feeling rich from all the $$$ that our dear dear family gave for xmas me and noods set off for El Phoenician in parramatta becos we have always walked past and gone ‘ooh dont that place look sexy?’ ‘but we’re poor!’ so we decided to rock up and what do we find? SORRY BUT WE ARE CLOSED UNTIL 4TH JANUARY 06!!! grumbles so crossed the street and went into Montezumas which is like a chain of australian owned mexican restaurants.

so the meals were pretty cheap but for some reason i realli wanted to eat salmon and also i wanted dessert. so we walked over to the lighthouse restaurant (just opposite the roxy aka the pink building) and noods orderd a prix fixe meal. starting with an entree of ‘Smoked Tasmanian salmon roll w avocado & straw mushrooms in celery & apple dressing’, mains was ‘Rack of lamb with almond and herb crust, kipfler potatoes and rosemary jus’, and for dessert ‘Sticky date pudding with vanilla bean ice cream and butterscotch sauce’ while i ordered a ‘Grand Marnier chocolate creme brulee and almond biscotti’ after explaining to the waiter that i had alrdy eaten dinner…

$36 for a very yummy 3 course meal is just sexy. unfortunately some changes have occured since our last visit. the bread rolls arent hot!!! and instead of pretty triangles of butter on a plate the waiter just plopped those butter sachets you can get from maccas and off he whooshed. dude cold bread roll plus bodgy butter does not a happy susan make. but oh the dessert! mmm that sticky date pudding was sooo moist and warm and who doesnt love butterscotch sauce huh? huh? i DARE you to tell me you dont like butterscotch sauce because you must be off your rocker.
