Peronis Restaurant

noods was ranting about this restaurant and how it looks like a house (‘dya think this part was the living room?’) and knowing onli the address we arrived at Peronis Restaurant (48 Station St East, cnr Ada St Parramatta/Harris Park).

there was a pretty large table of guys which mightve explained the lack of service and it was strange how the manager dude would go around to every table saying hello etc except ours. noods reckons its cos we look young. i say its becos we’re asian and its not the first time we’ve been ignored in a predominately white restaurant. it wasnt as if we were drunk and carrying on or that we looked scruffy. we dont realli have high expectations we just want the menu without having to ask for it. anyways.

i ordered an entree of double baked cheese souffle with parmesan wafer and pesto cream sauce ($15.90)

the parmesan wafer was weird. to me wafer is something thats crunchy with a layer of creamy goo. this was more like spread some warm cheese on a plater and wait for it to congeal before serving… but the cheese souffle was soooo soft and creamy and CHEESEY and the pesto sauce was PERFECT and eeeee this has possibly moved up on my alltime most favourite entree

for mains i ordered the rack of lamb with parmesan herb crust, sweet potato puree, ratatouille vegetables and rosemary jus ($28.90)

the lamb was a tad too fatty for me but the crust tasted like chicken stuffing! i LOVE chicken stuffing! the sweet potato puree was nice and er pureed but the vegies came out like mush so not much of a texture difference

noods ordered the grain fed sirloin with roasted kipfler potatoes creamy spinach, puffed pastry and green peppercorn jus ($26.90)

he declared it ‘meh’ with the puffed pastry being just a midget ball of puff pastry… with nothing inside.

we almost decided against dessert becos we couldnt get any waiter to bring us the menu. and the dessert menu, like the normal menu had more pages about wine than it did of food!
i ordered the traditional creme brulee with fresh vanilla beans and macadamia biscotti ($8.90)

mmm creme brulee and biscotti was nice and light and crispy i hate those hard as a brick ones where your teeth break

noods ordered the hazelnut nougat terrine with cream anglaise and raspberry coulis ($8.90)

tasted like icecream!!! but bit more grainier and with a REAL hazelnut taste!
