Eat City restaurant chefs journey
last year when i was still working at the cake factory they chucked a xmas party for us at Eat City Restaurant (349 Kent St cnr King St) and we were served THE most incredible pate i have ever had and since then ive been waiting for the right occasion to make a return visit however all noods had to say was ‘lets go’ and off we went battling the crazy traffic.
Apparently Eat City is doing a twist with yum cha- you can order a main and it comes out in small portions for you and your partner to share but me and noods decided on the Chef’s Journey minus the wine ($65 p.p) and i told the lovely waitress that i realli wanted the pate but im not sure if they worked the pate into the ‘journey’ or they just forgot to charge us…
Organic Chicken Liver Pate en Croute
the pate! so smooth so creamy so good but soooo filling… it came with a pear and gherkin salad with dill dressing and paired well with the pate and dude we got free refills of bread and i tell you that plate was scraped CLEAN!
Amuse Bouche. Jerusalem Artichoke and Cauliflower Soup with Seared Scallop
mmm the soup was so flavoursome and made me all warm and tingly inside! the scallop was a perfect little island of soft shellfish flesh
Black Lime Crusted Kingfish
the kingfish was so soft even tho it had been grilled and retained that smokey flavour without overpowering the super fresh fish
Soft Shell Crab
the soft shell crab was beautifully presented however mine was so salty it felt like my tastebuds were being burned away by all the salt! i manged to get thru half before shafting it to noods heh
Herb Roasted Barramundi
this arrived while i was still struggling with the soft shell crab and it was around this point that i realised i was full and there was still 3 more courses to go! the skin of the barra was as crispy as kfc! ok maybe that wasnt a good description but uh it was crispy! and there were shreds of prosciutto (mmm tastes like tasty bacon) floating around with the juicy tomatos
Duck a l’Orange
ohhh full… ive never had duck a l’orange before (hee say it! say it! youll sound french!) and hmm it was sweet? im too used to duck being in asian food like in soup noodles… it was ok but the sauteed spinach that came with it was bitter
Wagyu Rump
why stomach why? why must you give up on meee? it was the pates fault! (it was soooo tasty!) ohhh look at the juicy slabs of meat flesh… it was unfortunately hiding dollops of the dreaded horseradish which noods tried so hard to get rid of and argh i onli managed 1 forkful of the sexy silky potato gratin
White Chocolate Tiramisu
does this look familiar? yeah. its from my cake factory. we almost decided on not getting dessert but thought we wouldnt be getting our moneys worth heh
thanks for dinner noods! we’ll definitely have to make a return visit with the wagyu first up and maybe the pate in the middle somewhere…
