on the way back from zilver me and noods noticed a new sushi train restaurant called Umi so new that i cant google the address hmm but its in between zilver and musashi and overlooking the tram lines near gloria jeans.
a mighty mighty call of irashaimasu was called out to us one by one like a mexican wave and indeed it was mighty for there were 5 sushi chef dudes and 8 waiters floating around.
the waiter explained to us that the place was so new that they hadnt put in any fish in the fishtank wall (or water for that matter lol)
we werent very hungry and we thought oh we’ll just order sashimi and maybe a sushi roll and we’ll be on our way. we were very wrong and ended up ordering 5 dishes! first up:
salmon sashimi
so very good. the slices were so chunky!
scallop boat
so fresh! we didnt know what it was when it floated past and heard the ppl near us exclaim scallop! before i reached up and CRUSHED their scallop dream…
salmon roll
noods took one bite outa this and goes nooo its smoked salmon!
salt and pepper soft shell crab
this was ok. not mindblowing good but not bad either. perfectly crispy and salty maybe needed more pepper?
wagyuuuuu
we love wagyu oooh wagyu is our meat of choice but what was with all the shredded stuff on top? kinda tasted like soggy tempura bits… but the wagyu was good! well, for that price. and i cant remember the price. but it was relatively cheap. and we shall return oh yes. and maybe theyll have fish in the tanks…
Back to home
Heh, I noticed this place two weeks ago, and have been meaning to head here to check it out. First inspections (yeah I walked in for a stickybeak) looked good, but I’m a little distressed at the use of smoked salmon. That’s outrageous!
Scallops look tasty though, and good on you for excellent hearing and quick gastronomic reflexes. lol
