Doesnt the name One Ocean sound like a typical chinese restaurant? The food is anything but chinese however the service could rival that of the dodgiest chinese take out shop there is. One Ocean Seafood Restaurant (Shop 18, Old Northern Rd Castle Hill) lived up to all the criticisms on eatability- portions are a tad small for the price; seating arrangement is crap if youre near the door, bar or windows in winter; and service is friendly and polite when showing us to tables but quickly disintegrates when they all congregate at the bar and gossip about other staff. But yes the food is tasty im just not sure its tasty enough to overcome everything else!
Crab Pate ($17)
Under all that fluroescent yellow butter is the crab pate which had a huge amount of crab flesh which we piled onto the bread but the butter really did not go well with it. The bread was good tho it was toasted with olive oil and had a light spread of pesto
Lobster Mornay ($35)
This was realli good value becos usually you onli get half a lobster for that price but look a whole lobster w00t! and theyd pulled all the flesh out and stuck it back in so i wouldnt have to yank it all out which is quite thoughtful i must say and look at all that golden cheesey goodness mmm it wouldve been even better had there been a sprinkling of parmesan cheese but the chips were tasty and fresh and if we do come back id order this again
Lobster Tail ($35)
Portion size for this was pretty small and i think noods was hungry after this. He said it tasted good and i could see huge chunks of lobster flesh in it (as well as a hell of a lot of prawns heh)
We probably would come back for the seafood platter or if we had any coupons but im glad we used the entertainment card because service here is LOUSY and you know service is kinda one of those make or break things that this restaurant needs when its competing with the very sexy euro lounge and the trendy trellinis next door
Back to home
you like lobster? or do you mean lobster-flavoured CHEEEESE?
— amie Aug 5, 04:00 PM #When I saw the title I thought it was definitely going to be an Asian seafood restaurant! lol.
Bad service always leaves a nasty tastea in your mouth, but yay, go the Ent Card! We need to get back into using ours for maximum eating value!
— helen Aug 6, 02:23 PM #amie: i think i like crab better than lobster altho ive never had cheese on crab… YET
— chocolatesuze Aug 10, 07:04 PM #helen: haha so far we’ve onli been using the ent card at places we’ve already been to!
