Lowenbrau Keller (cnr Argyle & Playfair St, The Rocks) is the place where pork lovers unite and where dreams of bottomless beer and pork knuckles the size of a human childs head will forever taunt your crying stomach…

my cousins from malaysia were wandering around the rocks markets so we took them here for lunch. it was my first time here at lowenbrau and i was instantly converted. we sat outside in the sunny beer garden watching the colourful waitresses swirl around and the tourist crowd craning their necks at peoples food

hehe half a litre of Franziskaner Mango Halbe ($9.50) aka mango beer mmm

the Schweinshaxn- Oven Roasted Pork Knuckle with Sauerkraut, Lowenbrau Bier and Mashed Potato ($29.50). oh yes it was every bit as good as it looks! there is nothing better than pork crackle than MORE PORK CRACKLE! i have dreams of sawing through the uber thick, salty and very tasty crackle to reach the dark juicy porky flesh and alternating mouthfuls of crackle to mouthfuls of smooth mash and back to the flesh mmm

someone elses knuckle

and another one because it was THAT GOOD

Knuspriger Schweinebauch- Crackling Roast Pork Belly with Lowenbrau Bier Sauce, Sauteed Potatoes & Red Cabbage ($26). the pork belly was pretty tasty and the crackle was almost as good as the pork knuckle and i say almost becos there was less of it. so knuckle wins!

Schlachtplatte- Lowenbrau’s Selection of Bavarian Specialities- Sausages, Chicken Schnitzel, Roast Pork Belly Served with Mashed Potato and Sauerkraut ($35). i didnt realli try this because the pork crackle devil wouldnt let me eat anything else

im pretty sure my cousins kevin and alan liked the pork…
Back to home
oh you’ve just given me cravings for pork knuckle. my crying stomach has been taunted!
i have no idea how they get their pork knuckles so crispy good on the outside, and tender moist within.
