It’s my third visit to Cafe Mix at Shangri-La hotel for the buffet and i want to go back again!
oooh colourful

We all begin at the seafood bar where fresh oysters, prawns and halved crabs are piled onto our plates awaiting our hungry and very empty stomachs [we skipped breakfast and prevented ourselves from taste testing anything at the EQ growers market- the sacrifices we make when facing a buffet].

This is the neatest salad section i have ever seen hee i love my foods segregated before creating my own personal jumble of vegetables.

i like it when my food is portion controlled! im more willing to take a sample because its beautifully presented and i dont have to worry about too much wastage because its usually bite sized morsels. Here we have spicy fishcakes on the far left, a creamy fish mix topped with avocado on the right and i loved loved the ceaser salad mini cups and noods gives the thumbs up for the watermelon juice

Baked goods!

Iron Chef Italy! a very cheerful fellow and quick to help us lift any lids! and i have to say, the most fabulous lobster soup/bisque i have ever tasted mmm thick creamy and oh so tasty with chunks of lobster floating around. Also at his station were veal scallopine, pasta and baked cheesey cauliflower

Iron Chef China! He was very interested in why i was taking photos and happily posed hehe hihi! At the station there was soup, steamed buns, very tasty pork belly and prawn crackers galore

When i asked the chef at the japan station if i could take a photo of him he replied curtly with a sharp NO and walked off. HMPFH. thats the third time where ive had 3 different grumpy chefs at that station!

Land of India. Papadums galore, spicy spicy curries and rice

i was too full to eat cheese! i know i know! im crying on the inside but that was because of this:

would ya look at that hehe isnt it just a thing of beauty!?

Not one but TWO chocolate fountains! one dark chocolate and one milk i loved the milk chocolate not many places favour milk over dark because it can get a little too sweet but i loved it!

When we entered the restaurant i immediately noted there werent any macarons but instead the familiar wooden box was filled with cookies. i liked the pistachio cookies but i just realli realli wanted the macarons…

so yeah i was so upset! the whole week i was chanting macarons macarons macarons! so the mothership spoke to the sous chef Tony when he was arranging the desserts and tadah! a plate of macarons for meeee woohoo oh so delicious i love macarons!

i think the bowls of candy were for the kids and the bowls of fruit for the chocolate fountain yeah i missed taking a photo of the skewered strawberries and marshmallows sorry my bad

The glasses at the back were my favourite i couldnt quite guess what it was but it was very light and airy with slices of pear hiding on the bottom and topped with a swirl of raspberry coulis. heh and i loved the presentation for the madelines!

mmm cheesecakes and tiramisu and im not quite sure what was in the leaf shaped plate on the bottom because i couldnt fit anything else in!
Tea and coffee are included altho we couldnt drink very much and so we waddle out of the hotel moaning about how weve eaten more than we should have and theres no way we’re gonnabe eating dinner…
