Rise Restaurant Omakase Degustation - 3 February 2008, 18:27

It’s my sixth time at Rise (23 Craigend St. Darlinghurst) and every visit still elicits the ooh ahh factor from every dish that arrives beautifully presented from our omakase menu

doorway

Appetizer: Duck confit, beans and tofu with hoisin sauce. Juicy morsels of tender duck hides under the greenery before i stab them and they die a slow death in my hungry hungry stomach

Soup: Tom yum style soup with prawn tortellini. The soup was incredibly fragrant and slightly spicy to my now well adjusted extra hot nandos tastebuds and the fresh crunchy prawn floated happily around swaddled in a thin noodle blanket soaking up the soupy goodness

Sashimi. Two shot glasses held fat tender slices of kingfish and whiting and beside them a ginormous oyster so fresh and briney it tasted aliiiiveee

Seasonal Plate. Awesome awesome presentation heehee i love portion controlled tidbits!

Baby octopus with ume plum vinaigrette. The octopus was tender and delicate and paired well with the slivers of ginger and slight sourness of the vinaigrette

Soft shell crab sushi roll. Most normal people would eat the sushi and crab together in one bite but i wanted to savour every crispy salty crab morsel so i ate the sushi roll first and woah burning wasabi!

Spicy salmon tartare in wonton cup. A crispy wonton square holding its treasure of fiery salmon was oh so very moreish

Pasta dish: Scallop tempura & soba buckwheat noodle salad with soy black vinegar sauce. A huge tender scallop encased in a crispy tempura batter sat on perfectly al dente noodles

Main course: Panfried marinated chicken with asian miso ratatouille. The chicken was tender with a crispy skin and the pot of rice that came made me pleasantly full

Dessert: Almond jelly, fresh mango & amaretto milk granita. The best part of a meal is always dessert! A creamy jelly almost like pannacotta with hidden chunks of mango in every spoonful

My 2 fav adults Cathy & Andre congrats on finally getting married!

Their special platter of desserts thanks Rise for the lovely personal touches! As well as the almond jelly they also received an awesome melon and rockmelon jelly which was light and refreshing

and then tadah a 2nd platter of desserts for us! a milky jelly with coffee granita and tapioca balls hidden within like a bubble tea drink mmm

[cheeeeseeeee] thanks heaps to Rise for everything the food was perfect and the service was excellent im sure we’ll be back for a 7th time soon!
