malaysia part 2

old town white coffee shop is a chain of coffee shops originating from ipoh, malaysia and has since expanded to 15 countries with over 60 outlets. its a nice clean shop that sells their famous coffees and relatively cheap snacks and mains.

me with oldtown ‘cham’ (RM3.50) iced white tea and coffee is so addictive

kaya and butter on thick toast (RM3.80) kaya is a jam made from coconut milk, eggs, sugar and flavoured with pandan leaf it is so tasty and not too sweet that i used to eat it from the jar with a spoon…

kaya and sticky rice (RM4.30) i was a lil disappointed with this because the glutinous rice was a little gluggy and very salty so i just ate the kaya heh

omega eggs on toast (RM4.30) the best soft boiled eggs evah! its not too hard to stuff these up in malaysia because everyone has those contraptions that make perfect eggs every time. it’s their equivalent to our poached eggs

noods with his eggs. “these eggs are so soft but they cant run away!” yes noods [nods]

one of the few signs that made us sad during our trip…

later on we caught up with my bro for lunch and went to laksa shack which was a bad bad mistake

we all got the laksa set which came with 2 otak otak (fish cakes) and a grass jelly drink (RM14.90) my bro got the curry laksa- yellow noodles in a coconut-based curry gravy garnished with prawns, chicken, tofu puffs, fish cake and mint

noods’ asam laksa- thick rice noodles in a sour fish-based broth with pieces of mackerel garnished with sliced onions, pineapple, cucumber, ginger and mint

my laksa lemak singapore- fresh fish gravy coconut milk with thick rice noodles, prawns, chicken, ginger, cucumber and sambal

overall we didnt really like the food. heh. we probably should have gone and eaten the laksa on the street it definitely wouldve been better but we didnt want to go out into the heat lol ah wells that was the only bad food we ate all trip (well other than those clams that gave noods food poisoning but thats another story =P)
