Pom Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Giveaway

18 January 2009, 21:45

the lovely darcie has sent me some really cute bottles of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice hee look at its curves and deep red colour! i took a bottle to the beach the other day and it was super refreshing, a tad bitter and less sweet than cranberry juice. The POM Wonderful has super high levels of antioxidants and apparently it is the only pomegranate juice to be backed by $31million in medical research and clinically tested.

while it may be an acquired taste for some it seems im not alone in using the awesomeness that is Pom in recipes here, here, here and here. But alas the temperature has been melting my motivation and so while i love the idea of a pomegranate granita i used the cheats version and poured my Pom into icecube trays and used my trusty ice shaver…

tadah! the back glass is a child friendly pomegranate granita whereas the front glass is an adult happy lychee vodka and pomegranate granita mmm

but anyways ive got some Pom Wonderful to giveaway to two lucky readers! This competition is open to Sydney residents ONLY sorry dudes it’s because the Pom needs to be sent in a cooler bag. All you have to do to enter is tell me what you would use the Pom for in a comment on this post and include your email address. This competition will close on Monday 26th January at 9pm and winners will be emailed for their home addresses. bottoms up!

  1. I’d put it on some seared tuna. It will be amazing I tells ya

  2. Mmm, don’t the lychees go fabulously with the POM? I was tossing up between vodka and gin to add to it – I went with gin because of the juniper berry undertones (wow, how gourmet am I?). I do loooove vodka though!

    Love the beach shot, nice!

  5. A competition? How exciting. :)

    Here’s my entry :
“A lesser know fact is that vampires have a dislike for pomegranate juice (though not as much as they hate garlic). I always keep a handy supply not just for its nutritious value but to ward off the occasional denizen of the night.”

  6. How the hell did they waste 31 million on research and testing? Its not like they’d be supid enough to try and put therapeutic claims on the bottle. Is there some sly food techies in R&D out there that worked on this driving around in Ferraris or something?

Also I don’t know about the drink contents but you could sell it to stoners cos that bottle would make a sweet bong.

  10. YAY~! I like it (makes me hungry)! I wish I could make one like that one yet there are no products like that here in Philippines T_T I hope I could have just one like that yay!

  11. On a large dessert plate I would scatter chunks of peeled organic kiwi fruit around a large scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream. I would then scatter some pomegranate (POM), apple and lychee granita amongst the kiwi fruit before finishing the dish with some zingy lime syrup and a sprinkling of finely sliced mint. As the granita, ice-cream and syrup melt into each other, the whole thing would become summery bliss!!

  12. I would shake some POM juice with a shot of vodka, a shot of aperol, a dash of grapefruit juice and LOTS of ice. Then I would strain all that deliciousness into a chilled martini glass with a sliver of lime rind. Yummy and dry.

  13. I’m a simple girl and would just reduce it down to a syrup and drizzle it over some good vanilla icecream and waffles :)

    — Katy    Jan 22, 10:24 PM    #

  14. I would use it as a syrup for a rice pudding – served chilled

or use it to make a danish pomegranate twist
~ maybe even served warm with a scoop of ice cream YUM~

  17. Looks like great minds think alike – just after I posted mine Lorraine’s next post was a recipe for vanilla icecream with pomegranate syrup!

  18. I’ve never tried this juice before so I would served it with carbonated water and fresh pomegranate. And use the remainder to serve over lychee ice cream with fresh lychees and pomegranate.

  19. I just recently watched videos on youtube regarding how jell-o shots are made, and suddenly thought hey…why not mix POM pomegranate juice with vodka, then pour this along into a bowl with grape jelly mix? It could then set in little cups in the fridge and become an instant hit at a party. I’d probably use the rest of the juice and blend it with icecream, ice and fresh fruit to make a smoothie..i always crave smoothies in summer :P

  20. A POM juice and rose water frozen yoghurt would be absolutely perfect in this weather I think. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it!! Then when I’m in the mood for something different, just blend some of the frozen yoghurt with some milk and voila, POM juice and rose water lassi =)

  21. I will conduct experiments with it. Since it is summer, I may make salad sauce or pour it into some ingredients, but first please give me the POM sample to try it first since I couldn’t find it in my local Woolies and Coles.
