i love it when my birthday falls on the weekend! it means a whole day out visiting tasty places. first on the to-eat list was breakfast at zumbo land, we arrived at 11am and to my horror almost everything was sold out! i settled on ‘Ed Rock the Cradle’ (Milk coffee cheesecake with chocolate cheesecake base, coffee scented caramel crème and Italian meringue) which was deliciously creamy and smooth and i loved the milk bottle candy sitting atop the cake!

this is what 26 macarons looks like in boxes hehe i didnt get to attempt a ‘let’s see how many macarons i can eat in a row’ because we had to head off to meet the parents at eveleigh markets (thanks to the lovely blog readers who dropped by!) and then to lowenbrau for lunch

mah pork knuckle! it is a thing of beauty that pork knuckle is! crispy golden crackling just begging to be stabbed omnomnom

and then a side trip to Pasticceria Papa in haberfield for the best ricotta cake EVAH oh yes it is so very good. i arrived around 4pm and when i walked thru the entrance my heart plummeted because the section that normally houses stacks of their ricotta cakes was completely empty but i asked the lady anyway if they had any left and she winks and brings out a piping hot ricotta cake from the kitchen w00t

also scored some ang koo kuehs from the lovely alice from Makan@Alice’s mmm and with a special peanut filling!

dinner was at Blake’s (1/33 Terminus St, Castle Hill) where i had their awesome pate

heh and this is what 26 salted popcorn macarons looks like out of their box… and no i have not yet managed to eat them all lol

Back to home
Woohoo! Seems like you had a great food-ful birthday! :)

— tracey Jun 1, 07:12 AM #I thought it was meant to be 26 profiteroles that you were going to get. Were the macarons in place of those (good choice) or are they still yet to come…?
— Simon Jun 1, 08:44 AM #A birthday blowout. Love it! And Nood’s pic is so cute! Esp when I can hear the pig and the duck talking in a nasal Ralph Wiggum voice. Ha, he should make a t-shirt with that!
