Oh hai! Yeah a little warning there’ll be alot of pics me coming up hoho ready? After a night celebrating the awards, Helen and I woke up bright and early for a bloggers tour but first some sustenance: coffee IN A BAG (SG$0.80) and kaya toast (SG$0.60) from Hong Kong Jin Tian Kopitiam. i don’t normally buy hot drinks if i know it’s gonna come in a bag usually my drink of choice would be sugar cane. Or Soy bean. Or Cendol. But it was early and we needed coffee. And the kaya toast was so full of win- each slice of bread had been sliced in the middle and stuffed full of kaya and slabs of butter. Kaya is a coconuty eggy pandan flavoured jam and is so very tasty

We head to the Mint Museum of Toys (26 Seah St, Singapore) where Popeye greets us clutching a mug of spinach. 60-year-old Chang Ya Fa’s collection is pretty impressive, the building has 5 whole floors of toys and its only displaying 10% of his collection at one time. And oh boy how i wanted to play with the toys.

Astroboy!

The cafe upstairs turns into a bar by night and check out these oldschool signs

Robots

Tintin!

Feeling peckish we wandered next door and this is what happens when you travel with a group of foodbloggers…

And then after checking out the Chinatown Heritage Museum Helen and i got distracted by the smell of bbq meat. We arrived at Bee Cheng Hiang to find these guys cutting out heart shapes in the bbq pork. BY HAND.

Dude grilling the hearts. The smell of grilled meats is incredible i tells ya!

i choo choo choooose you :D

Lunch time and we troop to Maxwell Food Centre aka Helen’s happy place. You should have seen her face when we arrived hehe Food! More food! So many stalls!

To cut a long post short im just posting the table shot of our food. We had ordered pohpiah which sadly didn’t have any fried pork fat bits, an oyster omelet that was super generous with the oysters, rojak, stuffed fish balls, black radish cake, and a random oyster fritter that anthony bourdain praised but which i found quite disappointing.

Dave is happy with his ice kachang. He then goes and buys 20 banana fritters. Just because.

The Merlion!

And off to Bugis St where the crazy heat means we head for the nearest icecream cart and score an icecream sandwich. LOVE the crazy pink swirlys on the bread!

On the Singapore Flyer (image from Number 18 Qing ) with the Aussies.

After a nap we head out to dinner with the eat show & tell crew at Sin Hoi Fai for crab. Mmm salted egg crab had sooo much roe! Hello cholesterol!

Black pepper crab

Oatmeal prawns. ZOMG SOOOO GOOOD! Couldn’t stop eating this! Would have loved to eat a whole plate of these prawnys all by myself mmm and stay tuned for part 4!
Back to home

Was the bread for the ice cream sandwich actually like bread? Looks a lot like a sponge cake, which I imagine would be just as yummy to sandwich ice cream between :)
Cool shot with the fish eye lens. BTW, what’s with the Number 18 references?
