oh my! i love the fact it lights up!! tres cool! best part of xmas: is not the christmas carols (which i hate), not the mad rush of xmas shopping (which I don’t mind), not the fact the shops close and I need to stock up on groceries (which i hate).. but the best part is that the family gets together for a hearty meal(s) and not long after xmas is chinese new year and the eating really never stops! heart attack….

Spending the day with family/relatives and at the end of the day, all adult relatives are either drunk and still drinking or pezzed out on the couch snoring way too loudly. While the littlies are watching a movie or playing with their new gifts making bets on who will pass out next.

I always throw a tree decorating party on the first Sat of December, everyone brings an ornament and gets one to take home so I have stacks of lovely friend memories hanging on the tree. Last year in lieu of ornaments we all made origami paper cranes and I had a red and gold crane themed tree! So much fun!

My favourite thing about Christmas is the food – everything just tastes better on Christmas Day, probably because we all pitch in and help to make it really special.

The stuffing in the turkey is homemade (instead of coming out of a box), the potatoes are roasted in fat (rather than a quick drizzle of olive oil), there are handmade sweets everywhere, we make cocktails and trifles and puddings and custard – all from scratch. The effort that people put into making a meal for the whole family (and then sitting down to eat together) makes the day the most special in the year.

The part where we are playing celebrity head and I’ve given people either world leaders from obscure countries, or a random actor. The game ends with someone finally realising they can see their reflection in a window, which is about the time the dog figures out how to get up on a chair to eat left overs and begins to ho into sausages and slices of beef. Which then results in people getting up and attempting to remove the dog from the food but just manages to spill it everywhere. Luckily, the pudding with brandy butter appears at that moment to save the day!

My favourite part of Christmas is Christmas morning – it starts with mimosas, brekfast of ham off the bone and buttery english muffins, followed by going through our Santa stockings (even tho I’m 35 now, I still get a stocking from Santa!) and usually, quite a few more mimosas!

Christmas is the most magical time of the year and it brings love and peace to everyone. The way it takes over the media with its outlandish celebration, the decorations, music and joy that is in the air! My favourite part is to see my son’s eyes twinkle with excitement and anticipation with Christmas around the corner. But most of all it’s Christ’s birthday and also a celebration of God’s love for us.

My favourite part of Christmas has to be the food – we always have a laid back day – the kids open their presents, then into the champagne for breakfast with eggs benedict, or french toast, and then its a casual cuisine ride for the rest of the day, usually an prawn salad of some kind for lunch, then ham and roast meat for dinner. We just eat when we are hungry again. I love it!!!

The best part of Christmas is when all the little kids, counsins, nieces, nephews, aunts. uncles, mums, dads and siblings gather around the Christmas tree at 11:50 eyeing out the pile of presents and eagerly look for their name hoping to see it on the big presents. once 12 o’clock strikes with big smiles on our faces we dig in as well did at the dinner table =) love Christmas such a festive time of the year!

I love how Christmas brings out the best in everyone. Typically neurotic shop assistants become cheery and overly helpful (even adding an occasional hum along to Harry Connick Jnr’s Christmas album for good measure), butchers throw in an extra sausage or two just because they’re feeling generous and people say things like “Hey how you doing buddy, Merry Christmas!, have a good one” etc etc. with blatant disregard as to whether they know who they’re speaking to or not (lol I’ve seen my Dad do it for years)…oh, and what would an Australian Christmas be without a nanna nap after a little too much champagne and seafood at lunchtime!?

My favourite part of Christmas is baking for family and friends. I love giving Christmas themed cookies, macarons, gingerbread men and houses etc. There is nothing like home-baked goods to spread the Christmas spirit. This tree would make an ultimate eye-candy centre-piece for a Christmas party!

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without my father’s Scottish tradition of having hot homemade sausage rolls on Christmas Eve, irrespective of sometimes 40+ heat. It’s almost sadistic sitting in the wilting heat eating sausage rolls, but I can’t imagine Chrissy without it now.

My two brothers and I always give each other a box of Ferreros for Christmas, no joke. It started when someone gave one of my brothers a box and my other brother and I inhaled them hehe. So the next year without consulting each other we all bought Ferreros so we’d at least be able to eat a few…it’s a small indulgence that really brings us together, since there’s a big age gap and not a lot in common, apart from our love of hazelnut and chocolate lol

My favorite part of Christmas has to be the gorgeous flurry of activity just before lunch is served. All the anticipation of the morning building and building with everything waiting to get to the table…. the non-cooks pouring drinks and having their hands smacked away from the prawns and salads, the cooks rushing round fighting for counter space, putting the finishing touches on their dishes.

My absolute favorite part, though, has to be the finish-line hurdle – like puzzle pieces slotting into place, everyone finishes their dishes and is immediately handed a brimming glass of champagne and one of those dodgy wrapped chocolate tree ornaments. Whoever finishes last has to take a shot of incredibly awful homemade rum so there’s always a race between the final two.

The food’s always great and the presents and company are just wonderful, but for me that last twenty minutes are easily the best part of Christmas.

My favourite part of Christmas is remembering why we celebrate Christmas. My favourite part of Christmas is being woken in the middle of the night to the sound of Santa’s sleigh landing on the roof with a loud thud…..In the stillness of the night I hear the sound of his big black boots clomp, clomp, clomping on the roof……I hear him climb the chimney, huffing and puffing as he goes, Listening carefully I hear a grunt as he squeezes himself into the chimney cavity and I wait for the gentle thud as he lands in the fire place…..he sets about his work, scattering gifts under the tree filling the room with the spirit of Christmas…..
I hear him open the stubbie of beer which has so lovingly been left for out him…he mumbles something about keeping the fruit cake and cookies for the reindeer……Finally I hear a “whoosh” as his trusted reindeer take him off to his next point of call, in the distance I hear a jolly laugh and a Ho Ho Ho.

I lay in my cosy bed so excited I could explode, in my wish list to Santa I asked for a ♥Ferrero Rocher Christmas Centrepiece, I wonder if my wish has been granted…….
I just hope the Jolly Old Fellow doesn’t get pulled over for flying under the influence.

I love Christmas for a very selfish reason. This is the time when I feel good about myself. Reason: I will be lavished with praises about my wonderful cooking.

As a full time housewife, my daily cooking was accepted with smiles, sometime with complaints but never with compliments. In turn, I would never try to cook anything new or exciting. Christmas is the only time when I will unveil the “Nigella Lawson/Martha Stewart” goddess in me (). Time seems to pass in slow motion when I am baking my Christmas cookies, swirling my chocolate pudding, roasting the Christmas turkey and experimenting with various sauces and dipping. I derived so much enjoyment from looking at polished plates of my family and friends and the admiration in their eyes.

My favorite part of Christmas would have to be late afternoon on Christmas Day- with the family all full to bursting on a ridiculously overindulgent lunch, we lie around in the loungeroom and snooze and chat about the day – the dramas, the pressies, the food, the crazy cousins, etc. And, of course, no matter how much everyone has already eaten, there is always room to snack on chocolate and candy canes. :)

Christmas is the most favourite time of the year
I’m so excited cause it’s so so so near!
I love the fact the family gathers around the tree
and I’m looking at all the presents & cry out “wow all for me?!”
I love the fact everyone is so close & happy,
although when waiting for the delicious food..we do tend to get snappy.
Christmas food is when the family takes a lot of time to make,
my speciality is my cheesy potato bake.
We gather around the table to wine & dine,
eating our family favourite- lamb with rosemary & thyme.
Okay so this poem sounds a little funny,
but let’s all pray that Christmas is all nice and sunny!

I love Christmas because of the kids. I love their excitement and enthusiasm. I love that the parents enjoy themselves in good company with good food and drink. A very merry occasion for all. The smiles are contagious!

I love Christmas and the entire “Silly Season” because it’s THE once a year event where no matter whether you’re deeply religious or not, everyone is equally swept off with the magic of Christmas that is inescapably in the air.

Everywhere you go and see, everyone truly embraces this special event one way or another. From the lovingly decorated homes & converted “Winter Wonderland” garages, to the decorations that adorns even the tinniest shopping centres, workplaces and other public places, to the exciting planning for families/friends gatherings, shoppings, holidaying etc. Best of all, despite the occasional mad-rush stress, Christmas time is undeniably the most exciting and enchanting time of the year and you can truly feel the enthusiastic magic vibes in the air :)

My favourite part of Christmas is gathering with other volunteers to help out at a local shelter for animals – even the fur kids without a family appreciate their special Christmas Lunch, and we get to have a laugh together knowing we are doing good for others. It is so very easy to get wrapped up in our own lives at Christmas and I think it’s really important to take a step back and see who needs a helping hand. Homeless, kids, animals, they are all important and deserve a great Christmas too!
Of course, afterwards we all enjoy a few beers and the Christmas Spirit!!

My fave part of christmas is buying all of the food magazines in the months leading up, then planning a scrumptious menu, battling the crowds at the markets, spending days cooking, then relaxing- surrounded by loved ones and watching them enjoy my creations :o) And then of course eating leftovers for the next week and grabbing a bargain or 10 at the boxing day sales. A girl can never have enough cookbooks or cocktail glasses :o)

i love the morning,
i love sneaking in and waking the kids (I usually throw a pair of socks at them), just so i can jump back in bed and await their footsteps running to “wake me”“ and tell me it is Christmas.
I love watching them open their presents, and not fighting for a change,
I love helping them put strange toys together, or unwrapping crazy twist ties from a dolls stomach.
I love the morning coffee I finally get 2 hours later,
I also love sitting in the kitchen just talking with the missus.
I love my friends coming to visit because they feel comfortable enough to do so on Christmas day, (not to get presents, but because they like our company).
I love the afternoon meal which we spread out for an hour or so.
I love having a dishwasher, because doing the Christmas dishes would be a nightmare.
I love watching the quirky movies you get on Christmas day. And lastly, I love it when my older kids say thanks and my younger one goes to bed with excitement in her eyes. She turns and tells me she Loves Christmas, and me and mum too.

I love that christmas brings all my family together. With everyone having their own busy lives, its nice to have a time where we can all catch up and remind each other how much we love them. Growing up the centrepieces on our table were always edible and it was hard to resist taking a white chocolate drop of the side of the centrepiece. If i had a Ferrero Rocher tree as my centrepiece i dont think it would last 10 mins before someone (most likely me :) ) would sneak one. Good thing this tree comes with extra Ferrero Rocher chocolates

Guilt free eating for a day

Great excuse to get off work (we all have to recover for a few weeks afterwards don’t we?)

Indulging in the shopping centres attempting to come up with what i want for Christmas

Not having to entertain the kids for a couple of hours until they grow tired of the toys and the food and the cousins…

AND feeding the kids so many sweets that they hopefully decide that they will never eat sweets again and get onto those vegetables (yea right)

Its also wonderful having a different christmas every year so a different type of christmas tree (yes that chocolate one) would make the day so much more special!

Christmas for me is DECEMBER all year i wait the month of December , on the 1st we set up the tree and my husband, kids & myself gather around and decorate it whilst playing xmas carols. The kids have advent calenders which they open every morning, counting down to xmas day. We have a special xmas eve dinner just my husband , the kids and I. We watch any xmas movie or sitcoms we can find on tv that night, then take the kids in the car to see all the houses decorated with xmas lights etc. we put the kids to bed , then have a quiet xmas drink before bed.
Christmas day is about the giving and receiving of gifts and love. Our huge family gathering for lunch, celebrating all day and night…. I love xmas so much

My family has a rule that not a single present is opened until the entire family is… well, present (unintentional funny) so being the only adult family member still child free, each year I go bonkers for getting “delayed” en route to the early morning present opening ceremony – the kids go bats#@t being tormented on the most exciing day of the year. I love it! Obviously this is why I do not have children myself as I still have a bit of growing up to do :)

My Mum’s side of the family host a Christmas Olympic Games thing every year at my Auntie’s house. Everyone is placed in teams of two, and all day long you have to compete in games, puzzles and quizes to gain points. There is a massive trophy kept in the lounge room at my Auntie’s house, and every year the team with the most points gets their names engraved on it!! I’m not joking, the Christmas Games have been going for well over a decade now- and let me tell you- to get your name on that trophy is a fight to the death. Me and my cousin won in 2003. Watching my Mum and Dad fighting hard to win each year- is my favourite part of Christmas!

The best thing about a Summer Christmas is the sun and the beach with the smell of salt in the air… and of course a day filled with family & friends at a bbq, think prawns from Sydney Fish Market (remember the queue on Anzac Bridge last year? Crazy mad), sausages, steaks, potato salad, dips..

A day requiring sunscreen, a lot of laughter and plenty of food to go around.

Christmas is such a special time of the year that trying to pick out a particular favourite is quite a challenge! Christmas is awesome because it is a time of the year that it is completely acceptable to eat chocolate morning, noon and night! Christmas Day revolves around food; we have family breakfasts (nibbling on chockies while cooking), hot Xmas lunches (snacking on chocolate while opening prezzies) and leftover dinners(chased down with chocolates for dessert), and in between we can eat chocolates all day long without anybody criticising us!

Although every year I work on Christmas Day – like a lot of people – I love still gettin up early in the morning with my kids before I go off to work and giving them all their gifts from us and santa of course, eating chocolate and other yummy sweets that you would not normally have, then coming home in the afternoon from work, having a shower, and baking, cooking and setting up dinner with family. At the end of the dinner putting my feet up and chillaxing after a busy but fun day. It’s christmas for me but I wouldn’t change it for the world. To be surrounded by loved ones with good food, fun, that’s what I love about christmas. :-)

Well what can I say but rocher chocolate are the ultimate treat. An excellent choice for the mother & mother-in-law who are conscious of what they eat. Rocher chocolates are a chocolate without feeling guilty but still have that yummy mouthwatering taste.

My favourite part of Christmas is when myself, my husband and our 7 children attend Mass on Christmas eve, where finally the baby Jesus is placed in the manger, and we are reminded of God’s gift of love to us all…it puts CHRIST into CHRISTmas and gives a deepened meaning to the rest of our wonderful celebration!

There are presents to buy and Christmas trees to decorate with tinsel and bright light let’s forget about the power bill.
Santa’s photo’s they would have looked cute if James wasn’t picking his nose and Jane pulling Santa’s beard.
Food to Buy Turkey or Ham, it’s been a tough year I think we will serve spam.

So yeah, I’ve only had 14 Christmas’, obviously because I’m 14 and i think I really love Christmas because it brings all our family together, just for one day. It’s abit like the Melbourne Cup. But instead of stopping the nation, this holidays stops the whole world. And we all get to have a break from reality and just chill. Oh and the presents, yeah gotta love the presents.

I love seeing the faces of my 4 kids Xmas morning when they wake us up before dawn with the excitement in their eyes that Santa has been!!! Seeing them rip madly into their gifts & the screams of joy when they realise they got what they wanted & waited for all yr long.
Xmas is a time to have love in your hearts, pressies in your hands & bellies full of yummy food & drinks & to always remember those less fortunate than yourselves.

The very best part of Christmas for me is Christmas Eve, our family has a tradition, we all gather and Mum(me) reads “Twas the Night Before Christmas” just before the children go to bed. My Grandmother started the tradition, now I’m passing it on to my Grandchildren. Seeing their little happy faces listening intently is wonderful and surely the best Christmas gift I could receive….as delightful as eating Ferrero Rocher chocolates!

Christmas is my favourite holiday of the year. It’s a time when everybody gets together, shares a drink, enjoys delicious food and share plenty of smiles. I love every minute of Christmas but Christmas lunch is my favourite. Everybody eats, drinks and pops crackers and reads out the ridiculous jokes. It’s my favourite time of the year!
