HAI! Thanks ya’ll for de lurking! T’was awesome reading all your lovely comments and I hope to continue to entertain you all for many more years to come! Hope you had a fab weekend, spare a thought to the peeps who are affected by the Queensland floods by donating to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal here.
It was Noods’ mum’s, grandmother’s and grandfather’s b’day so we rocked up to Hayashi Teppanyaki Restaurant (Mont Ro Gardens 23 Terminus Street, Castle Hill) for the ‘Matsu’ Banquet Teppanyaki ($37) and spotted the crew from YaYa’s Yum Yums hihi!

We started off with an entree of a yakitori glazed chicken skewer, a bite sized square of deep fried fish and a bowl of miso soup. And yes I’ve just started learning to appreciate beer teehee

Prawnies! Since the boy is now certifiably allergic to prawns I’ve had a noticeably lack of prawns in my diet and so these 2 prawns were barely enough to sate my prawn deprived soul.

Grilled calamari are delicate scrolls so ethereally tender. Like a cloud. Of squid.

Unfortch I was seated to the side of the teppanyaki grill so only had a side view of the action but woohoo grill full o meats!

Thick slices of chicken were coated in a tasty teriyaki sauce. Up until now there was no food thrown at me…

But of course that was about to change when the chef brought out some eggs… there were some unfortunate breakages but lol it was all in good fun

The eggs that were caught safely were cracked into a bowl and whisked and then spread onto the grill to cook for the fried rice

And of course once the fried rice was done you could only get your food if you had a go at catching the flying bowl hehe gooooo Moya!

Noods is the world’s unluckiest teppanyaki catcher and always manages to drop everything haha

Back to home
Looks fabulous! I’ve never actually been to a proper teppanyaki restaurant (and never had food thrown at me during dinner) but it sounds like good fun!
— Katie Jan 17, 08:07 AM #I miss my good old days, where I used to have teppanyaki for lunch with my family. However, those experiences were definitely not as exciting as yours, Suze! No flying bowls for sure! :D

— Tina@foodboozeshoes Jan 18, 07:09 PM #Aww how cute! Hehe I also notice some dude standing outside the restaurant waving =D Aww poor Noods, I remember the first time we went Teppan, everyone had an actual bowl filled with rice thrown at them to be caught with another bowl, my cousin got rice thrown at him without the bowl and it went all over his nice white shirt – ouch haha.
— angie Jan 18, 10:33 PM #haha! I love that white dog cake! Too Cute!! :)
— Sarah Jan 20, 01:14 AM #I never knew this teppanyaki place was in Castle Hill, I have to go and try it out. That cake is so cute. It looks like my dog Gizmo.
— Katherine Jan 21, 08:41 AM #Luuurve the fire shot!
— ToniTones Jan 23, 12:30 PM #Experience has taught me: when going to teppanyaki, don’t wear a low cut top – the chef will always aim to get the food down your chest & not your bowl… Fried rice on boobs = hurty :|
