Hungry

OH HAI! Woohoo it’s Friday ya’ll! The weekend is soooo close just a couple more hours and then freeeeedom! Well, not really for me cos I’ve got today off and will hopefully be getting new eyes. I say hopefully cos I keep hearing horror stories about lasik but hey we’ll soon see! Heh geddit? I’ll tweet how it went around lunch time. Meanwhile oh hey look delicious crepe!

I succumbed to peer pressure and got a Caramel Strawberry Cheesecake Soft Ice Cream Crepe from Mother’s Crepe (Shop 9 K5B, 680 George St, World Square Shopping Center) but instead of caramel sauce I switched to chocolate sauce cos I haz issues with caramel sauce (lol once you go butterscotch you don’t go back!) and it was deeeeelicious! Didn’t think I would like the slab of cheesecake but it worked surprisingly well with the soft serve ice cream and super loved how they place the paper covered crepe into a plastic sleeve so you don’t have to worry about dripping ice cream. Aaand a shout out to miss jialin who spotted me whilst trying to eat the crepe without dropping anything!

On my search for the perfect Reuben I heard thru the twitter grapevine that Bagel House had a Reuben Bagelwiche ($7.90). It was… ok… I normally associate eating bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon and in my mind was comparing EAT deli kitchen’s reuben to the bagelwiche and well, it didn’t quite measure up. The pastrami was delicious but sadly not enough cheese or mustard. (The boy and I went to Felix for our anniversary so I’ll post about their Reuben next week which was fabulous).

This is Luke Nguyen. Fat Noodle at Star City turned 1! His Zumbo cake had some pretty crazy layers- sweet pineapple pieces, a coriander & pandan mousse layer with a coconut sticky rice layer on white chocolate. The bear he’s holding was covered in dried noodles!

Mel, Noodlehead and me. This awesome one of a kind noodle headpiece had heads swiveling!

I leave you with this choc chip cookie baked in a skillet ($14) from the Hart’s pub (Gloucester St, The Rocks). Sexy right? The delightful Catty returned ever so briefly to Sydney and to celebrate there was crispy pork for dinner and the most perfect dessert ever. Oh yes warm cookie with gooey innards and crispy edges with just the right amount of chocolate chips and chocolate sauce so it’s not overly sweet and with a hit of cinnamon from the giant scoop of ice cream splodged on top. It is happiness in a skillet! And massive cute points to the padded holder covering the skillet handle heh. Go forth and try my friends! Hope you all have a delicious weekend!

  1. Hey, don’t worry! I had lasik done on both eyes 12 years ago – it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! You’ll be fine :)

  6. Peer pressure? lol. I deny all charges! I really want that noodle headpiece too. How handy that it’s cream-coloured so it would go with everything!

  11. Choc chip cookie reminds me of the Swensen’s hot-pan pies and ice-cream. Skillets are also nice to keep under your bed for greeting Mr Stalker

  13. Is it bad that I want to I want to face plant, mouth first, into that cookie? From the very cute holder, I’m imagining the skillet was still hot so perhaps it wouldn’t be the best idea but still…

Glad the Lasik went well. Too bad you had to give those Terminator sunnies back :D

  16. Let us know how you got with Lasik! I’d love to hear your experience because I hate wearing glasses/contacts.

Oh those crepes are so delicious! But oh so coma inducing in sweetness haha. My sis works at World Square so I’m envious that she gets to eat them whenever she works!

  17. I have been meaning to try a crepe from there as I walk past it most days and was so excited when they opened. I am scared though because I cured my bread top addiction and now that the crepe place has opened I’m thinking that if I start I just wont stop hehe!
