Ice skating at Bondi Winter Fest

1 July 2011, 06:46

OH HAI! Look its humans! Last night was the beginning of the winter festival at Bondi Beach and I was with the awesome Gianna, Karen, Steph and Frenchie (hihi!) to check out oz’s largest outdoor ice skating rink. Heh return of the animal beanie!

(Props to Pulse Communication’s photographer Caroline McCredie) Why hello lovely Anna :D

(Photo by Caroline McCredie) I have not ice skated since high school but it’s just like riding a bike! Um, as in, you don’t unlearn a skill! Haha there were these cute bright orange seals for kids to sit on and be pushed but of course we had to go and steal some for ourselves :P

Majority of the night was spent squealing wheeeee don’t fall don’t fallll

(Photo by Caroline McCredie) Nawwwww <3

We’d arrived too early and most food stalls hadn’t set up yet so we were sad pandas

Buuut we scored a pretzel. That bright yellow neon stuff in the bowl? That’s melted butter. It wasn’t delicious. Frenchie scored a bratwurst roll and we spied Poffertjes, curly potatoes, and mulled wine. There was also German beer in the alpine ski hut which was decked out in fluffy fur rugs and a crackling fireplace. There was also the Lipton Chai Latte Lodge which was giving out piping hot cups of chai latte.

In need of more food we hit Wagaya for fried foods and to catch up on the weeks shenanigans. Oh baby fried salmon skin why you so delicious.

Edit: oh lols we made it into the social page in the sunday tele. Of course the one time im in there and we’re wearing animal beanies…

ChocolateSuze was invited to ice skate with thanks to Pulse Communications
