Circa Cafe, Parramatta

19 August 2011, 05:34

OH HAI! You know what’s awesome after a big night out on the town? Rolling outta bed and hitting your fav local cafe for some breakfast. After hearing about Circa Cafe (21 Wentworth St, Parramatta) here and here I knew I had to drag myself and the boy over quick smart. It’s less than a 2min walk from Parra station and while they’re open all week for coffee and lunch, the brunch menu is only available on Saturdays till 1pm edit: 3pm.

The place is tiny! Step past the humans perched on wooden stools out the front and pretty much you’re inside. Circa feels like it’s been transported from Melbourne and hits all the checkmarks- eclectic fitout with crazy graffiti murals inside and out, super friendly and uber trendy staff, delicious coffee and a laid back vibe.

The menu is posted on butchers paper at the entrance with the daily specials scrawled in texta on the tiles. Check it out yo nothing’s over 8 freaking bucks!

But first some coffee. Ain’t she pretty?

French Toast with poached rhubarb, labne and pistachio ($7) is the most perfect french toast I have ever eaten. It was so crazy delicious that I hesitated when offering Noods a bite. I reckon it’s the first time I’ve eaten french toast without feeling the urge to drown it in maple syrup. The fat slice of bread is slightly toasty on the edges but with buttery, eggy innards and truly it does not need the toppings that’s how delicious it was. But no worries I still demolished the splodge of labne and sweet rhubarb strips with ease.

I suffer from food envy when Noods’ Baked eggs with sucuk, tomato, danish feta and chili ($7) arrives. The eggs are glorious, a stab and the golden innards are released to bathe the nubbins of sausage and tomato in deliciousness.

We couldn’t resist ordering the Field mushrooms on toast with hommus, parsley and red onion ($6) after watching panfuls of mushrooms being slowly, lovingly cooked in steady batches all morning. The mushrooms are freaking incredible and even though we’re stuffed full and have to sadly leave the bread behind there was no way I was leaving any mushroom remnants.

If you’re in the hood get yourself there now! I’ll be the one looking a little worse for wear heh have an awesome weekend guys!

  33. So does 3 double Ristretto in a row with NO sugar tell u how INCREDIBLE there coffee is? If coffee came out warm I would have asked Tony the barrista permission to put my head under his larmazocca machine and drink his coffee like the bubblers back at school!! With blues and Jazz in the background and a warm smile doesn’t put a grin on your face then u have problems! The vibe of this place is just not comparable to any place I’ve ever been to. My first visit to circa was 2 weeks ago on a Saturday and I just fell in love with it… Life is just way to short not to experience this place! When u think it can’t get better, it does! I order the field mushrooms with hommus and it was truly amazimg, so being italian what would u do? ORDER ANOTHER ONE!! thanks for the experience. TA TA

  37. I watched the creation of this place with growing curiousity, so when it finally opened I was one of the first customers. The staff are fantastic and so friendly, they’re like family, the food is absolutely outstanding! I have not had a meal I DIDNT make the “oohhh this is so good noise” about (Ive tried everything on the menu, several times over!) And this is the only place where I can sit and relax and have several coffees……CIRCA you are EXACTLY WHAT PARRA NEEDED! A breath of fresh air, gorgeous fresh innovative meals, fantastic coffee (oh and huge range of exotic teas) and the best “people” people, they genuinely love what they do and that comes across in their food! You’ve gotta check it out!
