Day of Food

  7 September 2011

OH HAI! So like, in case you guys don’t follow me on twitter, a couple weeks ago, I was lucky enough to score the new Hyundai Accent to drive around Sydney for the day as well as a freaking awesome $1000 budget for my ‘day of inspiration’. So pretty much I decided to see if I could spend it all on food that I wouldn’t normally purchase. Ready for my foodie spendup day? Took a sec to figure out that the Accent was keyless and was started by pushing a button haha but super loved the rear view camera system thanks to my not so awesome parking skillz and we were off!

We started the morning with breakfast at Bills (118 Queen St, Woollahra). The hot chocolate is insane, with Callebaut chocolate buttons studded around the glass.

Can’t go past the Ricotta Hotcakes and woot there was banana hidden beneath!!! Oh how I’ve missed my daily intake of potassium!

The boy has opted for the savoury route and has chosen the Sweet Corn Fritters which is awesome as usual, the corn kernels bursting in liquid sunshine.

Next stop was Victor Churchill (132 Queen, Woollahra) when carnivore dreams begin.

Muahahaha meeeeeat

Seriously Victor Churchill is unlike any butcher I have ever been to. Pristine glass cabinets housing all kinds of different cuts of meat along with sausages filled with every kind of filling imaginable and not to mention the rows upon rows of terrines, pate, sauces and butter.

Then up the street to Simon Johnson (55 Queen St, Woollahra) to check out their cheese selection.

Aaaand last stop was the Sydney Fish Markets (Bank St, Pyrmont).

Teehee prawnies, oysters, salmon sashimi, mud crabs and scallops galore!

There were more bags than what I’m carrying in that pic lol

Of course there was no way in hell we could’ve finished eating all that food by ourselves so we rounded up some humans for a feast

Get in the kitchen and bake me a pie Get out the barbie and grill us some meats! Yes the boys are deliberately wearing Arsenal jerseys. Too bad they lost their match bahahaha

Oh hello delicious foods…

And the next day had the family come around for part 2 of epic eats nom nom

Aaaaand a quick video of my day! I laugh insanely in pretty 95% of that clip haha. But hey stay tuned folks for a competition coming up in the next coupla weeks cos thanks to the new Hyandai Accent you’ll have the chance to win $5000 for your very own inspiration day!
