The chocolate seahorse is deeply ingrained into my soul. I remember the first time I received a box of Guylian Seashells, I didn’t have to share it with anyone AND IT WAS GLORIOUS. I could eat my chocolate in peace and quiet as I slowly ate each chocolate in row order without anyone ruining my system.

You cannot imagine my glee when Guylian finally opened up a chocolate cafe in the Rocks and then Circular Quay and the newest store at the brand spanking new Darling Quarter (TR5/TR6 1-25 Harbour Street, Sydney)

OH.EM.GEE. Helllooooo my pretties! I must return to try each of you!

Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake: 65% dark chocolate baked cheesecake with cream cheese and raspberry coulis;
Passion Temptation: White chocolate mousse with caramelised passionfruit cream;
100% Pure Pleasure: Belgian chocolate mousse with almond panna cotta and Guylian glaze.
Um. Can I just say amazing? Holy moly I was in chocolate heaven! My fav was definitely the uber light and fluffy white chocolate mousse in the Passion Temptation but the rich and creamy Raspberry Cheesecake fought with my heart and did battle against the incredibly smooth 100% Pure Pleasure. How do I choose?!

Of course to push us further into sugar coma territory, Gianna ordered a crazy awesome Guylian house coffee with chocolate and I chose a Milk Hot Chocolate that came with a chocolate seahorse in the cup and melted into delicious oblivion.

The only way to drink a hot chocolate.

The Guylian Valentine’s Day Degustation ($48/couple) is only available at the Darling Quarter location (TR5/TR6 1-25 Harbour Street, Sydney) on the night of Tuesday 14th February so be sure to call Reservations on (02) 9283 1947. Other items can also be ordered with your degustation in case you have a super sweet tooth or you can grab a Guylian chocolate gift hamper in store to surprise your special someone. Happy Valentine’s Day in advance everyone :D
ChocolateSuze dined as a guest at Guylian Cafe.

loved how you took the photo of the rich creamy hot chocolate slowly smothering the chocolate seahorse. Credit to the ‘pourer’ too, great team work on that shot!
— iT Feb 9, 11:37 AM #i’d love to do this, sadly adam has zero sweet tooth. guess i could go by myself and risk permanent sugar OD! :D

— Flick Your Food Feb 9, 01:22 PM #I drooled over your review. You must of been in chocolate heaven!
The CAKES!!! Since I, ahem, lack that “special someone” to take me there for Valentine’s, I may have to go at it alone and have all the chocolatey goodness to myself, embarrassment be darned xD

— excusemewaiter Feb 9, 11:33 PM #Guylian was like a super special present for me whenever my relatives came back to Malaysia from Sydney. We probably do have it in Malaysia but it’s a lot cheaper in Australia I think? Even though I knew each piece tasted the same, I wanted one of every shape there was in the box anyway. Loved your bit about the seahorse piece!

Last time I went I didn’t get the chance to try the cakes and the ice-chocolate wasn’t too exciting :( maybe i’ll try the hot chocolate next time ~
— Daisy@Nevertoosweet Feb 12, 05:42 AM #Wow never knew they had a chocolate degustation available! Looks like a lot of delicious chocolate~
— Food is our religion Feb 12, 12:49 PM #Oooh, Guylian chocolates! I remember eating my first one. It took me almost ten minutes to eat one seahorse… I had to savour each little nibble. :D
— Row Feb 12, 03:07 PM #You have a system for eating boxed chocolates, I see… plots ways to thwart system in future
I’m an anal Virgo and even I don’t have a system by which I eat my chocolate!
— Rita (mademoiselle délicieuse) Feb 12, 09:43 PM #I also LOVE Guylians and remember them as a child – they have been around for SO long (because i am THAT old) and they are still so successful and amazing! They changed the way I looked at seashells forever… and also caused some pain when I ate one at the beach but hey!
— catty Feb 13, 08:02 PM #Wow those photos are great quality, and you’re right its tough to resist Guylian’s pralines, they really are fab chocolates! thanks.
