11.59pm yay return visit to Rise in darlinghurst for the omakase, or degustation menu. me and noods took my parents out for an earli fathers day dinner and while we were incredibly disappointed that the amuse-bouche of semi-poached egg, sea-urchin sauce, salmon roe and shiso wasnt on the menu, we were pleased to discover that the appertizer (seared ocean trout with roasted kingoystermushroom thai style sweet chilli sauce) came close in making up for our loss. the soup (potato soup with oyster tempura and tofu) was thoroughly enjoyed by my dad who took less than 10 seconds slurping up the creamy goodness (and golly gosh the oyster was huge!). sashimi was a selection of tuna, kingfish and a very juicy oyster in all its salty goodness (my dad didnt know what the rock salt was so he ate a huge chunk...). the seasonal plate was same as last time with the crispy fried soft shell crab tacos (mmm so very tasty!), fresh scampi sashimi, lime, fleur de sel (cool and refreshing), and eel fresh spring roll, cucumber,creme fraiche (didnt like so much but it was yummy all the same). the signature dish (marinated chicken on polenta cube with chunyung chilli sauce) didnt feel like it was the signature dish of a restaurant but then, it could be becos i have this thing against all things with polenta. main course was meant to be roasted lamb, asian ratouille, gochujang tomato coulis but since the parentals dont eat beef they asked if we could get chicken and so noods missed out on his meat with bloood. for some reason our mains came with a bowl of rice and im not sure if it was becos we were eating so fast that they thought we were still hungry... and by the time our dessert of white chocolate mousse with seasonal fruits came along i was completely full and happy and ready to come back again in the near future!

11.59pm i dunno if its just me but have you ever had times when you meet a person for the first time and you instantly know youre going to be friends? noods (baulko), marj and julie (kernels), seth (nuc med), nat (uws), yang (subway) and now the french dude at work. BUT he just got FIRED!!! he moved from france to sydney to work and hes onli 24 and he was going to attempt to teach me french! (and yes im wearing a labcoat becos i always get my clothes covered in all types of chocolate)

4.26pm i have all these things i want to do but so little time like print custom tshirts one for every day of the month (like mmm chocolate), complete a 1000 piece puzzle (you know those preety ones with all the planets and stuff?), learn how to make jewellery (becos i can never have too many pairs of earrings) and make food out of clay (becos i think itd be funny). and so i began with the clay food project just to see if it was even slightly possible that i can use clay to resemble food...

fri 26th august
10.20pm i got the job at the cake factory!!! and yay! more freebies!!! 1st one is pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing (which is sooo moist and sooo yummy) and the 2nd one is strawberry cheesecake (which is very pretty to look at but the strawberry bit tasted weirdly like jelly)

11.59pm a coupla days ago noods emailed me: ahhhhhhhhhhhh crrraaaaaaaap!!!! was it daffodil day on friday!??!?!?!?! how come i didnt see any daffodils?????? where were the daffodillllllllllsssss? will you forgive the lateness of my daffodil...?

wed 24th august
11.59pm adrianna turns 21!!! got together with uni ppls at hogs breath cafe out in clarendon (near our uni) becos adrianna lives on campus and would always travel so far by train to get to our bdays so we all went to her this time. i wasnt realli hungry so onli ordered the crumbed camembert which was very very yummy and full of oozy cheesey goodness. im peeved becos i didnt take more fotos and that i didnt stay for cake cos had to rush off for class but happy 21st adrianna!

tues 23rd august
6.51pm the young french chef played a trick on the work experience girl and plunged his hand into a bucket of raspberry coulis (sauce) and showed the work experience girl and the work experience girl emitted a girly scream thinking it was blood... hehe oh wells i scored more stuff tho! 1st one is a very sexy raspberry tart and the 2nd is marble chocolate cake

mon 22nd august
11.59pm so first day at the cake factory and what can i say? i got more experience in half an hour than the whole entire week i was at donna hay! they onli use machines to mix ingredients and the rest they make all the cakes by hand and they supply airlines, restaurants and cafes in all states! theres 3 french chefs (2 oldish and 1 youngish) and 3 viet women who are all mothers and treat me like their daughter but their english isnt that good and i hardly understand the french guys so im like hmm. but its all good and i scored some free cakes!!! lookit!!! 1st one is 'triple chocolate mousse' and 2nd is 'gateau apricot frangipani'

11.59pm happy 21st janice!!! dinner was held at the very sexy corn exchange restaurant at four points by sheraton in darling harbour and it was a buffet!!! dude i love buffets!!! the dessert section was definitely the best ive ever been to becos new kinds of dessert kept being brought out! felt a bit left out what with all the commerce talk but at least i got to catch up with a bunch of baulko ppls (hee linds has a gf! connie got her ears pierced! and jennys bf is funnyas!) happy 21st janice!

11.59pm way back in high school my then bf gave me a small daffodil bear (you know for the cancer council thing?) and for some reason my brother decided to buy me one too. a bigger one. oh yes he made the emphasis on bigger and better. and the past coupla years since hes still buying me those bears. its for a good cause and all but why those bears i do not know.

10.43pm you know whats more stressful than an interview? an interview where the interviewer asks extremely complicated questions about why you want to work in cakes and not be a dietician and DOESNT smile when you answer... and it was just an interview for university work experience!!! im like dude i just want a coupla days to see if ill even like working with cakes. and the interviewer was french and the whole time he was talking all i could think of was wow its just like the french dude from pink salt and i want to sing like the french dude... man and he went thru every single page in my portfolio asking soo many things about my previous work exp and i was so sure i wasnt going to get it but bleh i managed to get 4 days there next week

4.43pm i love the drive home from uni! the drive to uni not so much cos i dun like getting stressed out with all the roadworks so earli in the morning but on the way home i feel alot more free and relaxed and pump up the music and come home realising ive lost my voice becos id be singing my heart out...

10.46pm this is going to sound realli bad but i work better when im surrounded by ppl who are stupid...
like in primary i was all good in my normal yr 6 class but then they shoved me into the o.c class for advanced yr 7 maths and i was screwed. in high school i was doomed but then my best mark in the hsc was for english because i was in the stupid boys class and at work emil likes to hire the drugged out youngins from the local highschool becos theyre cheap.

theres no moral to this story...
