the duck consomme tasted like 100 ducks had given up their lives to be a part of the extremely fragrant liquid to warm my hungry soul
Modern “vitello tomato”, duo of roasted veal & tuna tartare with crispy baby capers & truffle vinaigrette. Loved LOVED this take on the vitello tomato with the melt in the mouth diced tuna and the slices of tender veal and omg the crispy deepfried capers covered in the heady truffle vinaigrette were so very moreish
Lobster & prawn ravioli with spinach, tomato concasse and champagne veloute. i turned into a ravioli convert after eating this- soft noodley parcels hiding lobster and prawn chunks and covered in a buttery, creamy sauce topped with the salty goodness that is the miracle of cheese
Ravioli of braised lamb with Spanish chorizo & mint. noods missed out on my ravioli because of the prawn so this was his substitute and i have to say it was almost as awesome as my dish… so much so that i ended up stealing forkfuls whenever he wasnt looking because the lamb innards were so tender and tasty
Twice cooked pork belly “Majorcan art” served with sautéed apricots, jamon patata bravas & marsala sauce. i was a little disappointed the crackling wasnt very crispy but oh the pork belly, my second favourite part of the animal (you know, after the skin heh) was delicious and packed full of melty fatty goodness
Rare roasted venison with a risotto of forest mushrooms & flash fried leek. heh we got a special bonus course courtesy of super chef alex and i reckon this was my 2nd favourite course (fav was the main). The venison was tasty but the risotto was freaking awesome! Cooked perfectly to al dente it did indeed taste like a forest of mushrooms had been culled just to make that risotto so tasty
Gin, lemon & mint granita. the palate cleanser was refreshing and provided a much needed break between the foods. the boy and i were pretty surprised at the size of the granita but we loved it especially the candied lemon rinds (hee see our banner on the table?)
Pan roasted Grimaud duck breast, sauteed green beans, potato pearls & hazelnuts served with a honey and sherry sauce. There were two options for the ‘main’ and im always a sucker for duck and look at that beauty! Fat strips of juicy ducky with crispy skin mmm and i was super happy it wasnt in an orange sauce cos i hate duck and orange sauce lol
Grain fed fillet rested on wilted spinach, crushed kipfler potato served with morel mushroom sauce. By this stage noods was clutching his stomach but he said his beef was tops
Belgium chocolate tart with blood orange gelato & chocolate sauce. So so rich but not to worry this is where your emergency second stomach comes out to play and soon youll find the plate licked clean heh
We had to take away our petit fours because we were just too full bah fail! a giant thank you to the staff at euro lounge for the awesome service, our customised table complete with banner and confetti, and of course for the fantastic food. we loved everything and hope to come back realllll soon =D
happy anniversary noods! i <3 you!

a new type of spa has been popping up all over the place in malaysia and not the type where they give you massages…
we nearly walked right past this shop until we saw the ‘little’ shark in the display cabinet and after standing there watching him swim around a smiley lady gave me a brochure and at first i just gave it a glance but then i saw that this shop had what looked like a mini pool inside:
and tiny little fish were swimming around and then we found out these were SPECIAL fish because they EAT the dead skin off your feet! hurhur and for only RM36 (AU$12) for half an hour you stick your legs in the pool and let the fish nibble away! noods wasnt game enough to try so i shoved him my camera and decided to give it a go
now i know this is a food blog and some of you may not want to see fish attacking my feet so ive posted the rest of the pics here
malaysia part 2

old town white coffee shop is a chain of coffee shops originating from ipoh, malaysia and has since expanded to 15 countries with over 60 outlets. its a nice clean shop that sells their famous coffees and relatively cheap snacks and mains.
me with oldtown ‘cham’ (RM3.50) iced white tea and coffee is so addictive
kaya and butter on thick toast (RM3.80) kaya is a jam made from coconut milk, eggs, sugar and flavoured with pandan leaf it is so tasty and not too sweet that i used to eat it from the jar with a spoon…
kaya and sticky rice (RM4.30) i was a lil disappointed with this because the glutinous rice was a little gluggy and very salty so i just ate the kaya heh
omega eggs on toast (RM4.30) the best soft boiled eggs evah! its not too hard to stuff these up in malaysia because everyone has those contraptions that make perfect eggs every time. it’s their equivalent to our poached eggs
noods with his eggs. “these eggs are so soft but they cant run away!” yes noods [nods]
one of the few signs that made us sad during our trip…
later on we caught up with my bro for lunch and went to laksa shack which was a bad bad mistake
we all got the laksa set which came with 2 otak otak (fish cakes) and a grass jelly drink (RM14.90) my bro got the curry laksa- yellow noodles in a coconut-based curry gravy garnished with prawns, chicken, tofu puffs, fish cake and mint
noods’ asam laksa- thick rice noodles in a sour fish-based broth with pieces of mackerel garnished with sliced onions, pineapple, cucumber, ginger and mint
my laksa lemak singapore- fresh fish gravy coconut milk with thick rice noodles, prawns, chicken, ginger, cucumber and sambal
overall we didnt really like the food. heh. we probably should have gone and eaten the laksa on the street it definitely wouldve been better but we didnt want to go out into the heat lol ah wells that was the only bad food we ate all trip (well other than those clams that gave noods food poisoning but thats another story =P)

oops im a couple days late to the moon festival aka eat as much mooncake as possible day! i love mooncake especially the golden salted egg (or eggs, plural) hidden under the lotus seed paste but noods has issues with the salted egg and sweet filling combo so the mothership bought him a little piggy filled with just the paste:
piggy!
you lookin at me?
butt cheeks!
off with your head mr piggy
innards

malaysia… a place i will never get sick of… the only thing better than their cheap food is their cheap clothes… mmm
at the sydney airport the foodcourt is quite depressing because theyre renovating so theyve boarded up all the windows. managed to spot a friendly face (hihi tammy) before stocking up at the newsagent for candy while noods decides to go take a look at the kids play area…
flights with jetstar are usually pretty cheap mainly because you have to pay heaps for the extra stuff like blankets! the ‘comfort me’ package costs a whopping $7 and you get a super duper THIN blanket, an INFLATABLE pillow, eye mask and bright orange ear plugs that look like they came from a bunnings hardware store…
surprisingly the food was actually decent! i preordered the ‘feed me’ package ($25) which got me a main meal plus drink and a light meal plus drink later on. you dont actually save money preordering the package but it ensures you get food cos ive heard of people at the back of the plane dont have much to choose from when the trolley makes it to their end. i got a pretty tasty ricotta ravioli with bolognese sauce, a not so tasty salad, a bread roll and a dove chocolate bar plus coke
noods said he might preorder his food next time because it was such a hassle scraping together random aussie dollars cos he’d already changed his money into malaysian ringgit. but he liked his food too- thai chicken curry with rice and veggies, the salad, bread and a chocolate bar ($15) plus beer ($7)
i also got the ‘entertain me’ package ($10) which came with a portable video unit and reusable headsets. sadly the movie selection was not realli up my alley i remember fast forwarding thru nims island and there was only 1 ep of house and law and order loaded in but hey it passed the time
my pre-ordered snack was a meat pie plus tomato salsa, weiss mango icecream bar and a can of softdrink. noods bought a ham and cheese sandwich ($6) and a beer ($7)
so pretty =D sadly jetstar dont do direct flights from sydney to KL anymore and for our flight back we had to go from singapore to darwin with a 2hr transit at 4am before heading to sydney and it was pretty much hell hmpf but hey more on that later!
