Ben and Jerry's Scoop-a-thon, Manly

  29 November 2009

Once upon a time, there came a message from Richard: “Ben & Jerry’s are opening a store in Manly and there’s FREE icecream!” which led to a callout on Twitter for foodbloggers to join us in the beauty of free icecream. Rocking up to the store (25-27 South Steyne, Manly) and eager for ice cream were Yas, Jacq, Mark, Rose and Shez.

The queue that started across the road. The waiting time wasn’t too bad- about 10-15mins and we were kept entertained by staff doing competitions for cooler bags, stickers and spoons.

These cows were kinda scary… they were like 2D cows without heads!

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield were there to mark the grand opening of the Manly Scoop Shop complete with camera crew

Round 1. Um so ok after eating so much ice cream that day i cant quite remember what everyone ate each round but here goes… CoffeeCoffee BuzzBuzzBuzz, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie

Round 2. Hmm melty ice cream oh noes! But the non melty ice cream was the awesome Peanut Butter Cookie Dough oh man so awesome

Round 4. Berry Berry Extraordinary, Lemonade Stand Sorbet, Chocolate Therapy, Chocolate Macadamia, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough

A break from the sweetness was needed and so fish and chips to the rescue! I kinda negated the need for no sweetness by drinking Mother

Chilling out at Manly beach where Jacq and i watch Yas and Richard start off by building sand boobies before doing the foodbloggers proud and making sand wontons and sand sushi. Note the beginnings of Yas’ sunburn.

Round 5. Strawberry Cheesecake, Phish Food, Triple Caramel Chunk, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough

Round 6. Peanut Butter Cookie Dough is by far the awesomest ice cream EVAHHH

Ahhh thanks for the fabulous free icecream Ben & Jerry’s! And thanks to the lovely foodbloggers for coming all the way out to Manly for the icecream-fest!
