This trip to the Sydney Royal Easter Show I had a mission- to do a spoof of Daily Telegraph’s food critic Simon Thomsen’s ‘Sydney Easter Show is a culinary roller-coaster ride’ video. Watch it first before watching my sugar induced video heh heh like my stupid propeller hat?
OH HAI! How was your long weekend dudes? Hope you guys spent it wisely cos that awesome 5 days off ain’t happening again any time soon- Google tells me 2038! As for me I spent my time off getting as much sleep as possible and of course going to the Sydney Royal Easter show with the boy. Of course it rained. It always rains each year we plan on going!

Super Easy Cream Puffs + Philly Cookbook Giveaway
CREAM PUFFS! OHHHH YEAH! I heart cream puffs/profiteroles and definitely prefer them over custard filled ones.
Hai guys! Happy Easter! I was a little too excited about the uber long weekend and hit the happy juice pretty hard last night hence this super late post. Now the one dessert where I just cannot stop at 1? CREAM PUFFS! OHHHH YEAH! I heart cream puffs/profiteroles and definitely prefer them over custard filled ones. The below recipe is from the Land o Lakes website cos I had wanted to do cream puff bunnies (but er failed haha) but I followed Joy of Baking‘s cooking temperatures.
Ingredients:
100g butter
1 cup plain flour
1 cup water
4 eggs
Philadelphia Cream For Desserts (you can always use full cream)
Preheat oven to 200C. Combine the 1 cup water and 100g butter and cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil (4 to 7 minutes).
Reduce heat to low, stir in flour vigorously until mixture leaves sides of pan and forms a ball. I am the world’s messiest baker.
See? Ball-ish
Remove pot from heat. Beat in 1 egg at a time until mixture is smooth.
Plop balls onto baking paper lined trays. If you’ve got a piping bag you should pipe out the dough cos then the puffs will look nicer. Bake for 15mins at 200c and then turn down heat to 175C and bake for another 15mins until shells are golden brown.
Slather puffs with the Philly cream. Or you can fill piping bag with whipped cream and fill the puff

Basket o puffs! Lil dusting of icing sugar and voila!

I tried making them look like bunnies but I failed so um doo di doo

Aaaand I’ve got 5 PHILLY Cookbooks to giveaway! All you gotta do is leave a comment on this post telling me:
You can enter as many times as you like, but you must be an Australian resident. Please enter a valid email address. Competition closes Friday 29th April 2011, 10am aest.
roast pork taste baguette
Taste Baguette has the most freaking amazing roast pork baguette! I was gonna do the whole try everything on the menu for a blog post but every time I march on over to the World Square store (Shop 10.28) I just cannot go past the roast pork baguette. It has CRACKLING!

So ok, not the best pic I’ve ever taken, but DUDES Taste Baguette has the most freaking amazing roast pork baguette! I was gonna do the whole try everything on the menu for a blog post but every time I march on over to the World Square store (Shop 10.28, World Square Shopping Centre) I just cannot go past the roast pork baguette. It has CRACKLING! Whole STRIPS of glorious crackling! And brie! Delicious brie! And slathered in a tangy honey mustard mayo! And to a lesser, happier extent minus the exclamation points- rocket and lettuce, but I figure that’s to even out my not so balanced diet. The baguettes are baked fresh every 15mins and seriously I could just eat the bread itself alone. Cos it’s that awesome that I have dreams about it. I have crazy food dreams and wake up super hungry and craving a baguette. It’s like a vicious cycle. But a tasty cycle 😀
