Farewell 2011!
2011 round up. Ready? OK!
Well 2011 sure was a doozy hey! Ready for a round up? My favourite post has got to be the Trash the Dress Food Fight 1 year wedding anniversary photo shoot with the awesome Trish. Some girls dream of their perfect wedding but I dreamed of doing the trash the dress shoot. I’m lucky my other half loved me enough to put up with my crazy schemes 😀
Hardest post was writing about Noods and his cancer experience. Everything happened so fast and yet it seemed like time froze as we held our breath through the operation and the chemo and finally got the all clear on checkups.
Went to the Easter Show and had a blast making a spoof video.
Finally got to dress up and have a Kill Bill themed party.
Many a night was spent at The Dip, aka my second home where copious amounts of pulled pork nachos and hotdogs and beer were consumed after a hard day at work.
Pledged my allegiance to Cafe Cre Asion where Yu Sasaki makes the best macarons in Sydney. Seriously you guys the strawberry milkshake mac is da bomb diggity!
Went on a whirlwind Tourism NSW food trip following Dan Hong’s tweets and realised being filmed is hellz crazy.
Aaaand finally did some super quick recipes like chocolate chip cookies, Maccas brekkie, Donuts and Nutella cheesecake
Thank you to everyone out there who swing by and read my crazy ramblings, I hope I’ve been entertaining! Do drop me a comment on what you’d like to see more of in 2012 and I wish you guys all the best in the new year! Safe safe, be well, and keep smiling 😀

OH HAI GUYS! Survived the craziness that was Christmas? Hope none of you exploded from all the tasty eats I’ve been glimpsing all over the internets.

We don’t have turkey or ham at our dinners, instead we have roast ducky! Is it weird that I haz issues with turkey and ham? I pretty much like any other meat cept them two…
Brother unit hard at work bbqing garlic prawns
Pretty poor photo of the foods argh my bad! There was peking duck pancakes, 8 hour pulled pork, 3 kinds of salads, salsa, prawns, sashimi, garlic bread and um a bowl of bacon 😀
Humans nomming.
And a few of my Instagram pics of the week, my shiny new Nikon J1 from Santa Noods.
Went to Costco with my bro and found this 2.26kg block of Hershey happiness
Got suckered into buying banana bread beer. It sadly tasted like those fluro neon yellow banana lollies. But anywhos how was your Christmas, dudes? Any surprise gifts? Any food disasters? Lay it on me!

At the carving station there was a beautiful whole barramundi and a huge hunk of slow roasted beef rib. Gotta cater for the impending doom Xmas so there was also glazed ham and roast turkey and stuffing available oh baby I do heart stuffing.
Russkis Deli had this glorious slab of Russian cheese that I couldn’t resist slathering onto fat wodges of bread. There was also platters filled with Kazatskaya sausage and Moscow Salami with Russian pickles.
The Smoked Sprats were plump juicy babies that were incredibly moreish and surprisingly not salty.
Hitting the hot food section where there was char-grilled spatchcock, seared John Dory fillets and sautéed King prawns with French mustard vinegar
Seafood selection of the day included Sydney Rock Oysters, Tiger prawns, Crystal Bay prawns, green lip mussels, and Blue Swimmer crabs.
Charcuterie section of prosciutto, Hungarian salami, chorizo and smoked salmon.
AND PATE OH YEAH SLABS OF PATE!
Gianna sure does love her cheese ahahaha
But of course dessert steals the show! Eclairs, macarons, blackforest cake, tiramisu, orange creme brulee, apple strudel and bread and butter pudding galore.

Super Easy Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies
Super Easy Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies Recipe
10 more days to Christmas!!! /insert high pitched squeal teehee oh yes I’m excited! And it’s about time I bring you another super easy recipe, Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies! The original recipe post can be found over at the very awesome Foodess whose cookies are way prettier looking than mine. My batch of cookies have a few adjustments to the recipe so on ya marks, get set, go:
Ingredients:
70g salted butter
100g chocolate
1 cup caster sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup plain flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
4 candy canes
Nuke the 70g butter and 100g chocolate in 15sec bursts, stirring after each burst until chocolate is mostly melted. Stir to melt the remaining chunks.
Transfer to mixing bowl and beat in the 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs and 1tsp vanilla extract.
Add in the 3/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp salt and beat till combined.
Mixture will be super gooey and soft so refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Go read some blogs 😛
Preheat oven to 175C. Line 2 large baking sheets with baking paper. Drop heaped teaspoons 2 to 3cm apart. Bake for 7 minutes.
Smash up some candy canes! Probably best you chuck the candy canes in a bag and then smash em otherwise the pieces will go flying and you’ll be finding random pieces everywhere /grumble grumble.
Remove trays from oven and sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Return to oven 2-4 minutes longer, until candy has softened and almost melty. If you see the candy start to bubble pull out the trays asap.
Remove trays and cool for 5 mins before transferring the cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
And ta dah! Purdy xmas cookies! Of course you can’t have cookies without a glass of milk so if you have any leftover candy cane crumbs try coating the rim of a glass for a festive look! I used a bit of honey to stick them on because my crumbs were a tad large lol see ya’ll next week!
