Restaurant Ka opened in Darlinghurst a few weeks ago and it is now one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. The 8 course tasting menu is contemporary with Japanese and Cantonese influences and is $160pp. There’s only 16 seats so be sure to book! I absolutely love counter seating as I can watch the chefs plate up, it’s dinner and a show!
My favourite course was this raw blue fin tuna with soy jelly and the crispalicious shiitake mushrooms and also this port lincoln calamari with burnt shallot and ink sauce that came with steamed then fried mantou buns with a soy and condensed milk sauce.
The Pork tortellini was delicious but I was obsessed with the crackling sprinkled and wanted more. I was surprised to see beetroot with the peking duck but it was actually perfect with the cucumber and provided a balanced sweetness to the dish.
The Wagyu tri tip was not too fatty and allowed the morel and shiitake mushrooms to shine, I also loved the smokiness of the grilled savoy cabbage. Guava and salted plum sorbet was delicious refreshing and the perfect palate cleanser. And finally chocolate chiffon cake with sour cherry and kirsch

The Peanut butter Bar in Alexandria celebrates, you guessed it, peanut butter. They’ve taken over the old Textbook Patisserie location, step inside and be greeted by glass cabinets filed with cookies, brownies and cakes and a whole wall filled with mega jars of peanut butter. There’s also a peanut butter fountain!
They also have a savoury menu, we started off with a peanut butter latte which was surprisingly well balanced, then half a kilo of buffalo wings with peanut butter sauce.
We also got some burgers, the Peanut Butter Bird had crispy buttermilk fried chicken which was juicy and also the PBB, which was double brisket patty, double bacon, double cheese and secret peanut butter sauce.
We couldn’t resist the choc chip cookie in a skillet which is beautifully warm and gooey and perfect with the peanut butter drizzle.
