Looking for a proper reuben sandwich in Sydney? Lenny Briskets has the best sandwiches and I would religiously follow their food truck around town all of last year. They’ve recently opened a bricks and mortar store in Darlinghurst and I could not be happier. Take a seat at the counter and enjoy dinner and a show, not only are their sandwiches delicious but they have the CORRECT meat ratio, let me show you.
This is the New Amsterdam with bbq brisket, American cheese, fire roasted red peppers and Russian dressing. This is my go to order, I love the combination of melty cheese on the brisket and the hit of smoky sweetness.
The Double El Grande is ½ kilo of smoked pastrami on rye and this is a monster of a sandwich. Yes it’s a lot of meat and I can never finish this sandwich in one go but I plan ahead for future me. The pastrami is incredible, always juicy and I love the smoky pastrami crust.
I also ordered the Muffuletta which has the most pleasing of layers, there’s leg ham, salami, artichokes, olives, peppers, Swiss and American cheese, parmesan and Russian dressing.
And last but not least the loaded fries with queso, pastrami and jalapenos, this thing is massive and I’m glad I shared.

Love oysters? The Sydney Oyster Farm Tour is such an incredible and unique experience that I would highly recommend to everyone.
Make your way to the pickup point at Mooney Mooney Bridge just 45 minutes north of Sydney’s CBD where an open air boat will take you to the oyster farm leases on the Hawkesbury River. Fair warning, don’t sit at the front or you will be drenched.
From there our guide shared some information about how the oysters are grown and harvested and we got to have a look at the baby oysters before we arrived at the in water tables.
We donned our waders and made our way to our table where there were prawns and fresh oysters waiting to be shucked. We got a demonstration on how to shuck the oysters and then it was our turn. After a few false starts I finally get the hang of it and the oysters just tasted incredible! Was it because we had to work for our lunch? Or was it because we were literally in the water where there were no seagulls and just the sounds of the river and incredible produce? Either way I had the best time and my parents did too.

If you’re looking for a different foodie day out in Melbourne, you’ve got to visit Grazeland which is basically like a permanent food festival with so many stalls and such a wide variety of cuisines. There’s live music on a stage at one end, a dj on the other and it’s super clean and is also dog friendly.
We were craving cheese and kicked things off with raclette on potatoes which was incredible, savoury and slightly nutty, we also got the deep fried camembert which was crumbed and had molten cheesy centres.
Then headed next door where we ordered gnocchi that’s mixed in a giant parmesan wheel. The gnocchi was light and fluffy but honestly I wanted way more cheese.
Next was at Claw and Tail for brioche rolls stuffed with lobster then we did a few laps around the stalls to work up an appetite for Zuya African bbq and ordered the Signature Zuya woodfire grilled beef, marinated for 48hours in a signature spice rub and added all the hot sauces.
Last but not least, dessert time and there’s a whole section called Sweet Street for all the sweet tooths out there. But my heart stopped at Toyoki, look at this jiggle, they have the fluffiest souffle pancakes and the bruleed bananas are awesome.
