Alfie’s, Sydney
@chocolatesuze Alfie’s Sydney is my new favourite steakhouse serving only one cut of steak for the mains #alfies #sydney #sydneysteak #sydneyrestaurants #steak ♬ Cravings – Christiane
When a restaurant only serves one cut of steak for the mains you know it’s got to be great especially if their sister restaurants are Bistecca and Gidley. The 220g dry-aged Riverine sirloin is $38 and cooked on Alfie’s custom-made grill. The steak is my idea of perfection, it’s juicy with just the right amount of marbling.
We order a whole bunch of sides, my favourite was the roast mushrooms with field, swiss brown, button and fried enoki.
Potato gratin is always a must order whenever I see this on the menu and it did not disappoint. We also loved the hot chips with chip shop curry sauce and the fire roasted carrots with carrot puree, malted beer vinegar, buckwheat and feta
The cucumber salad was suggested by our waiter and I was glad we ordered this as it was so refreshing and cut through the richness of everything.
The jam roly poly is basically a swiss roll with jam and we opted for the hot custard instead of the cold which was amazing. The Gypsy treacle tart was also fantastic, with Muscovado sugar, evaporated milk and a pretzel base.
