Legends Morgy and Nathan of wine bar Bar Copains have opened Bessies in Surry Hills.
You absolutely have to get the fluffy sourdough flatbread with garlic and herbs which is perfect to dip into the whipped cod roe.
The Moreton Bay bug sandwich has the perfect crunch to soft fluffy bread ratio and my fave of the night were these plump wood fired prawns with lardo and paprika oil.
The Rangers Valley flank steak was a perfect medium rare with a bright and zingy vine leaf chimichurri
For dessert I couldn’t resist the zesty lemon meringue marshmallow and the wood fired Portuguese tart is ridiculously light and flaky with the perfect sweetness. Finally the coconut, mango and lime is beautifully presented and a great end to the meal.
