ah its that time of year again: the mid-autumn festival, better known as the mooncake festival where the traditional food is the mooncake… the mooncake festival is my 2nd favourite eating holiday (the first being easter of course yumyum). different types of fillings can be found in traditional mooncakes according to the region culture- i prefer lotus seed paste with double egg yolk! ive tried quadruple egg yolk before but there was hardly any lotus paste in between all the saltiness!

a bit of trivia from wikipedia: ‘Mooncake were used as a medium by the Ming revolutionaries in their espionage effort to secretly distribute letters in order to overthrow the Mongolian rulers of China in the Yuan dynasty. Noting that the Mongols did not eat mooncakes, Liu Bowen, advisor to a Chinese rebel leader Zhu Yuanzhang, came up with the idea of timing the rebellion to coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival.’
