My weekends are spent seeking out cafes that are dog friendly and Norcino in Pyrmont ticks all the boxes of outdoor seating and great food and service.
On our first visit we arrived before 12 so a brekkie porchetta sandwich was up first, the free range pork roast was delightfully tender and the fried egg with xo mayo tied everything together.
We also ordered the buffalo mozzarella and fresh tomato pizzetta which was delicious and filling but on the pricy side with the added prosciutto making this a $28 sandwich.
I spied the Maritozzo and knew it had to be mine, the fluffy Roman brioche is absolutely stuffed with whipped cream.
When we return for lunch we start off with prosciutto and our first pasta is the spaghetti with clams, chilli and parsley.
I loved the rigatoni with a creamy sausage, mushroom and truffle sauce and the 300g O’Connor Scotch Fillet is perfectly cooked and deliciously marbled.
We shared a tiramisu which was a touch on the sweet side but lovely and light.

If you love the pastries at Tenacious Bakehouse then you’ve got to visit Tenacious Pizza just up the road at the Bitter Phew bar and only open on Friday and Saturdays from 5pm.
An absolute must order is the Seaweed and Honey pizza which was the perfect balance of sweet and salty.
Our second pizza was the squid and prawn pizza and it’s absolutely loaded with garlic chives and shallots, making this the perfect haemul pajeon dupe.
Our third pizza is the spicy Korean chicken which was fine but I was wishing for a lot more heat to this.
All of the pizzas are incredibly light and fluffy with a cloud like texture and I can’t wait to eat them again.

Venture down this alley in Temperence Lane and you’ll find a dumpling bar at the entrance and right at the end is Tom Yum From Hell which sells tom yum noodle soups and you can choose from 3 levels of spiciness.
We ordered the traditional tomyum soup with seafood and fresh ramen noodles, chicken meatballs, an onsen egg and fried enoki mushrooms and chose the level 2 spice which was pretty damn spicy but it was a good kind of pain.
We also got the wagyu beef with level 1 spice which was the perfect level for me. I loved the fatty and tender wagyu, the crispy enoki and the onsen egg was perfect.

My newest favourite restaurant for pasta is Louie just across from Coogee Beach.
We start off with a bright and punchy ocean trout and kingfish crudo. Then the Black Opal wagyu flank steak with smoked carrot purée and in lieu of vegetables we opted for fries with rosemary and a cloud of pecorino.
Now for all the pastas! The bucatini amatriciana has a spicy kick to it and is so good with the stracciatella cheese, the sweet corn tortellini is unexpectedly incredible and so different and the pappardelle with wagyu brisket and porcini ragu was fine but I wished it was more saucy.
But the star of the whole menu is the campanelle pasta with prawn and a really intense crustacean butter and a good drizzle of chilli oil.
For dessert the tiramisu had the perfect ratio of cream to sponge and just the right amount of bitterness from the coffee to balance the sweetness.
