so a trip to the city which was meant to be a quick lunch ended with me buying 3 boxes of cakey goodness from Breadtop, Barby’s and Puffy Cookie Puff which strangely are all orange themed…
heehee boxes! i like cute packaging! i prefer the boxes to bags so my cakey goodness doesnt get all squished. i had no intention of buying so much cake but i got suckered into the pretty presentations haha
from breadtop i got the taro gateau, mango gateau and baked cheesecake. my favourite was the mango gateau with fresh chunks of mango and each layer of sponge smothered in cream
from puffy cookie puff (World Square Shop 9 K2 World Square Shopping Centre 680 George St) i got 6 vanilla cream filled puffs and yes i know theres a lot of debate on whether beard papas is better but its all the way over in chatswood which is a bit of a trek so puffy wins for now
from Barby’s (396 Sussex St, cnr Goulburn St, Haymarket) i got a melon donut and a durian donut. the melon didnt go very well as a filling and the durian was just a tad better but i loved the doughnut itself without the filling it tasted like a cross between a light and airy krispy kreme donut and a donut king cinnamon donut
also from barby’s i tried their range of puffs and got the lychee and the durian puff and preferred eating the filling than the actual puff… did i mention i ate all the cakes and donuts in one sitting…

Garlic Scallops with fresh tomato and basil salsa ($17.50). The scallops were huge and tender and we werent expecting so many for an entree but hey that means all the more for me hoho
Grilled Lamb Cutlets with coriander, garlic and black pepper with a beetroot and mint sauce ($12.50). mmm oh how i love my lamby goodness! while im not very familiar with some of the spices on the lamb it was a pleasant change from rosemary and went well with the refreshing sauce even if it was such a crazy neon pink yes yes i know its beetroot what other colour could it be ignore me im hungry again
BBQ Scampi flavoured with sumac ($18.50). hoho these babies were huge! the sumac lent a great tangy flavour to the scampi which barely needed the wedge of lemon
noods’ special pasta ($25.50). i cant remember what this was but it had prawns so they substituted it for stuff that i cant remember and oh boy is my memory bad this is why i should take notes bah! urgh this shot of the pasta doesnt really show anything other than pasta but im pretty sure it had clams and um mussels and calamari?
Grilled Chicken Tenderloins with pepper, ginger and garlic and a beetroot and mint sauce ($11). the chicken was perfectly flavoured and egads look its the neon pink sauce again!
Mushroom naan with truffle butter ($5.50). when we saw the word truffle butter me and noods started hyperventilating but sadly not a hint of truffleness and for some reason this came out last after we had finished our shared entres so we were a tad full to enjoy the naan but it was a good change from the normal flavours we usually get. next time ill try and save room for dessert i promise!
