Kazbah on Darling (379 Darling Street, Balmain). So this is a super late post from uh sometime last year… As far as i can tell everything is still on the menu but might not look the same? Things are a little crazy atm ive been baking frantically with the leadup to xmas, organising and packing for trip to singapore next fri and of course the planning of the wedding. But anyways enough about me. Kazbah is famed for its breakfasts. And the queues. Be sure to book.
Kazbah’s Mixed Mezze Plate ($38 for 2people)- Hommos, Babaganouj, Taramasalata with Turkish bread, Char-Grilled Octopus, Char-Grilled Quail with Pomegranate Sauce, Fattoush Salad and uh i have no idea what the deep fried pile in the corner was.. or in the bowl. But i know everything was tasty because we were fighting over who got dibs on the straggly bits. The quail and the octopus portions were quite small but were the most prized components. The salad was refreshing and the dips so moreish.
Grilled Cypriot Halloumi ($12). How can you not love slabs of squeaky cheese?
Breakfast Tagine of Lamb Mince, Sucuk, Spinach, Roast Capsicum, Roast Tomato, Caramelised Onion, Feta, Eggs ($18 p.p we ordered 3 serves). Sadly we had missed out on the breakfast banquet and so the boys demanded something with meat. And behold! A monster breakfast! This tagine was so freaking huge we were worried we wouldn’t be able to eat the other tagine we’d ordered. Cubes of salty feta and glorious soft poached eggs sit atop a mountain of mince where a tangled mess of spinach and sweet onion lie beneath. It doesn’t look big in the picture but zomg So. Much. Mince.
Breakfast Tagine of Roast Pumpkin, Spinach, Roast Capsicum, Roast Tomato, Caramelised Onion, Feta, Eggs, Turkish Toast, Lebanese Bread ($18 p.p we ordered 3 serves). Not wanting meat so early in the morning i had lobbied for the vego version and am incredibly happy with the amount of pumpkin hiding under the spinach and eggs. i love pumpkin! We were so incredibly full that we don’t get to eat desserts but we shall be back for the breakfast banquet!

ned flanders' hot chocolate
Ned Flanders and his super sexy hot chocolate.
It has been more than 2 years since the Simpsons movie was released (and hey it’s on tonite at 8.30pm) and there are 2 things that pop into my head everytime i think about it- Spider Pig and of course, Ned Flanders and his super sexy hot chocolate. The above gif was from screenshots and turned into a gif (not too sure on copyright issues anyone has probs let me know and ill take it down)
Start by making a mug of rich chocolatey goodness. Then a nice swirl of whipped cream. Ned uses the bottled stuff. I am not a fan of the bottled cream so i whipped my own cream. Chuck in a chocolate stick. Top with grated chocolate.
Add a dollop of cream to the chocolate stick and place marshmallow on top
And then bring out the blow torch baby!
Mmm so so tasty. Ned Flanders is my hero! Now, sing with me: spider pigggg spiiiderrr piiigggg does whatever a spider pig does. Can he swing from a web no he cant he’s a pig LOOK OOOUUUTTT!!!! He is a SPIDER PIG!!

Ready for Part 2 of winning my way to the Nuffnang Asia Pacific blog Awards? Here goes my dream itinerary for Singapore:
First, breakfast at Killiney Kopitiam for their famous kaya & toast, or maybe some soft boiled eggs and washed down with their Columbian Arabica coffee [image source here]
Then check out Singapore’s emblem- the Merlion which had a lion head and the body of a fish. [image source here]
Next door is the Singapore Durian Convention Center where The Esplanade theatres looks like the famous Durian fruit. While it may be past durian season i would hope to try and find some to eat or even some mangosteens! [image source here]
Off to Orchard Rd for a bit of shopping in particular Far East Plaza, Orchard Plaza and The Heeren for the latest quirky streetwear and accessories. [image source here]
For lunch i would say a visit to one of the hawker centres like Adam Road Food Centre, Newton Circus Food Centre or Chomp Chomp for a plate of Chicken Rice or maybe an Oyster Omelet. [image source here]
Then to Chinatown to soak up the culture
Time for some icecream! Rectangle blocks of icecream! In multicoloured slices of bread! [image source here]
And what’s a visit to Singapore without trying some kueh? [image source here]
Getting up close and personal with the animals at Singapore Zoo. [image source here]
Dinner at the famed Saint Pierre where Masterchef AU’s chef in black Emmanuel Stroobant promises the most breathtaking concoctions. [image source here]
A ride on the Singapore Flyer is next where the city lights will twinkle below. [image source here]
And then to dance the night away at Zouk! here]
And that my friends is my perfect itinerary to indulge in the Uniquely Singapore experience!
