Malaysia part 5, Delectable by Su, hawker food and durian

  12 May 2010

Once upon a time there was a girl called Su-Yin. Her blog The Journal of a Girl who Loves To Cook is sprinkled with fantastical cake creations, drizzled with laughter and coated with love. After finishing her course in Sydney, doing a bit of travel and moving back to Malaysia she opened her store Delectable by Su (S-213, Level 2, The Gardens Mall, Mid Valley City) in May 2009.

Hai hai

Her store front window is filled with cake towers, candy trees, cupcakes and marshmallows apenty

Step inside and be engulfed in the sugary sweet scent of cakes and icing. Tshirts and bags are available with crazy cute cartoons

Brightly coloured cupcakes are almost too cute to eat. Almost.

Eat at the store and your fabulous cupcake will arrive on a plate that even has its own indent for the spoon!

7 Sins of Chocolate (RM12/$AU4) was so chocolatey im still dreaming about it

All the best with your business Su!

THE BEST hokkien mee is at Restoran Ahwa (66, Jalan 14/48, Petaling Jaya).

Oh hai

Check out that plate of fatty goodness mmm deep fried lard atop a jumble of noodles coated in black sticky sauce = awesomeness

Lala. Um kinda like pipis? Are they the same? Anyone? Bueller?

The pohpiah was ok. i think i’m too used to stuffing them the way i like- less lettuce more crabby innards and heaps of shredded egg.

The satay was a winner with charcoaly edges and an addictive peanut sauce

For dessert we order the Apam Balik- a crispy pancake filled with crushed peanuts, sugar and sweet corn

But then we cross the street and oh look a durian road side stall!

So very happy 😀

Durian innards

Satay is no doubt delicious specially when it is served hot. But durian is a big NO NO for me
