I’m still dreaming about my recent trip to Seoul and had a massive craving for banchan and soup. Park Bong Sook has a few locations in Sydney but their latest opening is on Liverpool St in the CBD and as soon as you sit down a ginormous platter of banchan arrives.
First up is the haemul pajeon which is an explosion of textures. The rice flour pancake is absolutely loaded with scallions, squid and prawns.
The pork ribs are covered in a spicy gochujang based sauce, the meat on the bones are meltingly tender and satisfying to lick clean.
The spicy raw marinated crabs was available when I first visited but I haven’t seen since but they were delicious especially squishing the meat out and mixing with the seaweed and rice.
The spicy pork soup is always needed for these bitterly cold nights as well as piping hot fried chicken and on our subsequent visits we have ordered the pork rib bone soup which have rice cakes hiding below.

I’m sure everyone’s heard of the Grounds of Alexandria but the Grounds Coffee Factory in Eveleigh is now my go to bring overseas friends and fam.
Coffee beans are roasted and ground on the premises and I always order the choux cream espresso with custard cream.
The traditional hotcakes are on the all day menu and are delightfully fluffy and golden, served with maple syrup and we of course added crispy bacon for S4.
The 300g sirloin steak frites is perfectly medium rare and juicy and comes with a generous amount of café de paris butter and the honey halloumi is a great balance of sweet and salty.
The banana split is a classic and the very sight is so nostalgic and they’ve swapped out the boring vanilla ice cream with a beautiful creamy macadamia and caramel ice cream.
Finally the baked to order madeleines arrive piping hot and comes with whipped cream and an incredible burnt butter caramel sauce.
